Arrival Story: Ghost appeared about the time Snickers past away. He bore an eerie resemblance to her, and that's why he was named Ghost. I suspect at one time Ghost had a home, but was discarded. He was feral like, skittish and would run when food and water was placed on the porch for him. Slowly, but surely he grew to trust our family. We were able to lightly touch his head, and soon pet it. Soft words soothed him.
Ghost rarely left our property. Since he was going to be another member of the household, we decided to have him neutered and receive a rabies vaccination. He bickered with my other cats, but nothing serious. Every cat had their place, and he fit right in.
In September, Ghost appeared with a serious bite wound on his rear paw. It was swollen and oozing. He was fed antibiotics and we kept an eye on him. The wound healed and he recovered. In October, Ghost developed a cough and his third eyelid became visible. He was lethargic and we were worried. Shortly after that Ghost disappeared.
We called and searched for him. Fret with worry, we imagined the worst.
Today, my husband found Ghost under an old truck parked on our property. Apparently, he had been dead for quite some time. I think it's safe to assume he died October 10, which was the last time he was seen.
