Moving really soon

Something is afoot in our home. Lots of things are disappearing, and all these boxes are sprouting up. It's been going on for a while, but getting faster and bigger. You can see a photo at our CatSynth site on what is happening to my favorite spots to rest and play. Actually, a few of the boxes are fun to play in. But I don't want to end up like that lolkitty who "iz all paked." I don't really like small spaces. And there are also lots of people around, coming over, and I'm still a little shy about that - so I've been hiding under the bed.

I know something big is happening. My dad says we're moving soon, and that everything will be OK. I trust him, and he's still here and we get to spend safe time together, so maybe it's OK. But I'm still nervous...

Burfday...and moving

We celebrated my "burfday" this weekend. I'm three years old. That's a lot of years for a little kitty!

We had fun, with toys and treats, and it was really nice to have dad here all weekend. He started a new job recently, and it's far away, so we don't see each other a lot during the week. Fortunately, I have a really great pet sitter who gives me lots of love and attention and I like snuggle up on her chest and purr. But it is great to have dad home - even though he's been feeling a bit badly. I do my best with purrs and snuggles, though it's been a little hard for me, too. All sorts of things being moved around, new smells, new obstacles...it was a bit distressing, actually, but I'm doing my best. After all, it's my "burfday".

Happy Halloween!

Just want to wish a Happy Halloween to all my kitty friends. But especially to all the other black kitties out there, this is a tough time for us. But at least we have friends and people who love us, and sometimes we even get celebrated!

Taboo

More sad noos over this past. Our friend Taboo passed away. It's hard to say good bye to so many friends in such a short time. Taboo has a really good long life, she was 18 years old. We liked to go read about taboo and her human "whaleshaman" who comes from that same "york" place as dad. Our thoughts and hearts are with them right now.

We will being remembering them at CatSynth when we host Weekend Cat Blogging today through Sunday.

Now is the summer of our discontent

Dad's been unemployed now for two weeks. For the most part, it's actually been good, because we get to spend lots of time together. Lots of cuddling and playing and purring. He's also been going up to the big city to do fun human things with friends, and on those days I've been stuck home by myself, but I guess that's OK, too.

Seems like there's a bit of a sadness and anxiousness in the air, too, though. We can smell things like that. Dad says it's not really about being unemployed, except that his mind and body are releasing all stress and toxicity from the last few months - that sounds like vet speak. On Saturday he was kinda shaky sometimes and having head and tummy trouble - he cried a bit, too. That was OK because we were really sad about Sundance passing away. But he also got tears watching the movie about puzzles. He really likes puzzles a lot, but shouldn't get teary about them. And briefly teared up this morning when reading news about Karl Rove - that was the stragest of all because he's a scary man who did lots of mean scary things (even jokes about hurting small animals) and dad does not like him. So dad agrees something was going on weird with the teary-eyed stuff and the head and tummy hurts. But says it's something called "cathartic". I think that means that after hurting a bit, you feel better than you did before - plus it has the word "cat" in it, so it can't be all that bad.

And while I don't like going to the V-E-T, I think he should go. He said he couldn't go until the health insurance is straightened out - insurance is how humans pay for their own vet bills, it's a lot more complicated than it is for cats - and it seemed like there was a problem with the company, but should be OK now. And things seem to be better anyway. Not only does dad seem to be feeling better, it's not as hot today as it was over the weekend. I don't like heat at all, and mostly just find shady spots to nap when it gets too hot. Dad likes heat, and said being outside a lot has helped him feel better. He even tried to get me to go outside, or at least try using my harness again. I don't really like harness, but I was OK wearing it after a while. We didn't end up going outside, though. I remember Sundance didn't like his harness either, he would write about that sometimes. It's hard not to think about him or the other kitty friends we've lost recently. Hopefully things start getting better again.

Sundance

Really sad noos about our little friend Sundance. He got really sick and had a very bad disease called FIP, and his family made the really hard decision to let him go.

Sundance was a sweet kitten, we saw him a lot on Weekend Cat Blogging and watched him grow. It's a very tearful good-bye for us. We're going to miss him a lot, but we are grateful for the time we got to spend with him. And we're sending lots of purrs and thoughts to his family, his sister cat Upsie and his mom Sher, who was always really nice to us. You can leave them your purrs as well.

We're back!

Yay! CatSynth is back up again. Thanks to everyone who stopped by while we were stuck in our "trailer".

CatSynth 1-year anniversary, but where's the site?

We were all happy today to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of our site CatSynth.com, where I have lots of pictures and stories in addition to dad's music and art stuff. He even made a special picture and post for today. Gonna be fun to celebrate CatSynth's "burfday."

But then the site disappeared. Poof, gone. There one minute. Then gone the next. Don't understand how that happens. Something about the ISP failing to properly renew our domain or something like that. Really technical computer stuff.

They ruined our special day :(. Dad is upset about that and needed extra purrs.

UPDATE: we have a temporary site up now. Dad calls it our fema trailer. meow!

V-E-T

On Tuesday dad brought out the evil travel box, which I do not like at all. I tried to say that I didn't want to go, but into the box I went. And then into the car. I know this wasn't good. This almost always means we're going to the dreaded V-E-T.

I don't like riding in cars, especially the twisty dizzy ramps on the freeway. I can't possibly understand why my dad likes highways so much, they are dreadful places. Yes, I did cry, I'll admit it. But it was really good and didn't get car sick.

In the waiting room there were lots of other animals too, including this really big doggie that made me nervous. I also saw another black kitty that looked a lot like me. He was a bit older and seemed to be really calm. His human brought him over (in his box) to say hi, he was pretty quiet, though. I wanted to tell everyone how horrible this whole experience was though. Everyone should know how bad going to the V-E-T is, even when we're there.

The actual V-E-T man was nice, and pet me a lot while poking. Not too much poking, fortunately, and he said I was really healthy and happy (which is true except when I'm there), and best of all I didn't need any shots.

The trip home wasn't so bad, because I knew we were going HOME :) I was really good again and didn't get sick, and happily bounded up the stairs to my places and toys and food dish. I got treats, too!

Heat wave

It's been really hot here. And it gets really uncomfy in my fur suit. Makes me tired a lot. But I drink a lot of water and try to find cool spots to rest.
Plus, what's really good this week is that Daddy is home! We get to spend lots of time together, just lying around and stuff. It makes me feel happy and safe.
He went away all day on Friday, but that was OK, it started to get a lot cooler again, so it was easy for me to play and stuff.

Peace Globe

Hi everyone. We did a Peace Globe today, because lots of people were putting them up today for peace. We got lots of responses and good wishes from other blogging kitties! It's always fun to see the other kitties online doing good stuff like that.

Dad tried to get the peace globe posted here, but it didn't work, so you can go see it here instead.

We want to see everyone stop fighting so much, and help both people and kitties.

Weekend Cat Blogging, CatSynth visitor contest and more

Hi everyone...we're hosting Weekend Cat Blogging again and invite all our kitty friends on Catster to participate. It's lots of fun, we all get together and share words and pics...dad usually helps with the words part. I'm actually hiding under a table for the moment because I'm feeling a little shy, but I'll come out when the action happens over the weekend.

Oh, we're also holding a contest for our 15000th visitor at CatSynth. That's a lot of people and kitties! We're almost there, like maybe just 20 visits away, so definitely stop by soon.

And finally, this is the last weekend of our CD fundraiser for our late friend TeaCup and his family, so if your humans like interesting music, stop by and help.

Sad news about our friend TeaCup

Sad noos, our friend TeaCup passed away tonight. That makes us really sad. We met him through Weekend Cat Blogging and have been sending him lots of happy thoughts and purrs so that he would get better. but in the end his infections got to him. we are sad for his family, too, for the kitties and humans who cared for him. Dad has written about TeaCup and his family at CatSynth and said he will donate all CD sales in May to help them pay for big vet bills. I don't understand how all that works, but I'm glad it will help TeaCup's family.

Our site CatSynth has been nominated for a Bloggers Choice Award. We're nominated for Best Animal Blogger, and Best Geek Blog and Best Blog About Stuff. That's three nominations!

We need all the kitties and beans to vote for us! Dad says that the "Geek" category is our best shot, but I like stuff, so I think we should be a "Blog About Stuff."

New picture

Dad made this picture of me yesterday for Weekend Cat Blogging and thought it was purrfect as my main picture here to. No more "baby pic" on top. That's good, I'm not a baby anymore! Don't I look pretty with the flower? The flower was a bit weird though, had a funny smell, and dad said it was dangerous and took it away after the photos.

Keep Our Pets Safe Cybermarch

Today people are flying brown ribbons as part of a nationwide cyber-march thing about keeping pets safe. Lots of people are worried about their kitties and other furry friends because of scary pet food problems. Dad is flying a ribbon over at CatSynth. I tried to put up one here, but it didn't work. I guess I just bat it around and chew on it instead...

Something weird happened with my diary

Not sure what happened, but my last entry from March 25 got repeated over and over again. It was really strange and weird. I didn't want to deal with it, it's more fun to go nap or play or cuddle than edit diary entries...but dad finally helped me out and fixed it tonight.

I hope nobody was too confused by any of this.

Dad's been really busy the last few weeks, so he hasn't had much time to help me with my diary here. But that's ok, we've gotten to spend lots of comfy time together, too.

Making records!

Dad's working on a record for this entire month. He's been spending lots of time downstairs, but I get to go down and help! I sit on his lap, and I remind him to spend time doing other things, like playing with me. My favorite game to play while he's working downstairs is to paw at the chair and mew, and then run out of the room and up the stairs, or just around the corner. It then turns into the "where's the kitty?" game!

Under da' bed

Sometimes I need a little private time, like when strange people come over or the big red scary machine comes out, so I go and hide under the bed. Dad followed me the other day with the flashy box. He posted a picture on my page here.

It was kinda rude 'cause under the bed is my private place, but he did post it weekend cat blogging and I got all sorts of nice complements from other peoples and kitties, and I like that, so I guess it's OK.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It's been really cold here. makes me go brrrrrrrrrrrr instead of purrrrrrrr.
Dad says that some of my kitty friends live in places that are even colder, but they're used to it. I have only lived in Cali-fur-nia and never felt the cold like this.
The only things that work to keep warm are curl up next to a nice warm daddy, or curl up next to an even warm heater. my favorite place has become the glass table next to the heater in our main room. there is a picture of me here (I think) resting on the heater, and another that dad posted at CatSynth.

Meow New Yearz!

Happy New Yearz to all my kitty friends!

It's been happy, but also a little sad, because dad had to go back to work yesterday after new yearz. It was fun having him around a lot last week, lots of naps together and kitty love, made me feel happy and safe. Plus I got to keep and I on him and make sure he's safe and well groomed. Seems like he gets sad sometimes so I give him extra grooming and head butts and nosies.

I wonder what he does at work all day without me?

We had some Channukah fun here, though I stayed far away from the candles. You can see some nice pictures, though.

Of course, there were presents. But I think I'm starting to get a little bored with all these new toys. Plus everyone knows the boxes and bags are just as much fun.

birthday pics!

Dad put up some meow burfday pics over at CatSynth. Got to play with my new meow toys, and today we even had a special weekend-after-burfday dinner with crab cakes that dad cooked. It was tasty but really big, I could only eat a little bit. Now I'm all sleepy, but that's OK.

Meow Birthday!

Today is my meow burfday. I'm two years old, and dad says that I'm "all growed up but I'm still his kitten."

Got lots of presents, including this blue mousey that I kicked around and hid and then found again and it was lots of fun. Dad promises to put up some photos soon here and on CatSynth.com. We also got a book with tasty treats that both dad and I can eat - it's good that they have food that's safe for humans, they usually eat weird stuff.

It's been a fun month, with pet sitter and turkey day and now burfday, too. Life is good.

Meow Turkey Day

Hi there. I'm wishing a happy meow thanksgiving to all my kitty friends!

Dad had a thanksgiving party at his office the other day, and he brought home some meow yummy turkey for me!

It's a big piece, so it was tricky and I had to use my sharp teeth. But in the end I ate it all up!

Dad is going away for a few days to see family people in a place called New York. But I'm going to have fun here with all my toys and looking at the window and the meow pet sitter will come and pet me and play with me. So it's going to be a fun holiday.

Furry encounter

I was sitting downstairs in the studio with dad, looking out of my window. I see lots of critters, bugs, birdies, sometimes meow lizards. But this morning there was another kitty, looking in the window at me. Dad says they like to look in the window 'cause I'm such a pretty kitty, but I'm still not so sure about them. I have a special way of talking to other cats, as you can see and hear on this video, and it expresses my mixed feelings about such encounters.

Wednesday

Wednesday's are dad's busiest days at work, he leaves early and comes home late. I always see him off from the top of the stairs, to let him know that I expect him to come home soon.

I'm really good at making him feel guilty. He usually leaves me some catnip and other treats, and keeps the radio on for me. I get to listen to Democracy Now - I think it's furry important to hear news not covered by the mainstream media. Also lots of fun music. I like the mid-day program, even though dad calls it a "hoedown."

After it gets dark, I hear the loud rumble outside and then from the floor, it lets me know that dad has come home, and I run back to the top of the stairs so he'll see me when he turns on the lights. Sometimes I hide instead, and then we play "where's the kitty?". Then we go and lie on the couch and purr, and all is right with the world.

The Big Scary Red Machine

Dad said we might have visitors this weekend, so he brought out the big scary red machine. It's really loud, and has this long snout that sucks things up. I don't like it at all, and hide under the bed whenever it comes out. Fortunately, it goes away quickly - and sometimes it's the visitors that end up being more scary. Dad assures me it's people I've already met, so it should be OK.

On a happier note, we're doing Weekend Cat Blogging over at catsynth again.

Dad back at work last week

Dad was feeling better, so he did his disappearing act to go to work all last week. But on Thursday and Friday he came back for lunch, which is always fun. We even got to take a little nap together, I always wait a few minutes just to tease him, then curl up by his left shoulder - makes me motorpurrrrr.

But had lots of fun on my own, too. Mostly looking out the window this week because it's been sunny. Makes me nice and warm. Lots of bugs to track, too. I caught lots of bugs. Really, I did. You weren't there, you can't prove me wrong!

It's also fun to leave toys on the stairs for when dad comes home at night.

My first post

Meow, this is my new blog.
My dad finally got around to helping me with it. He's been really busy, but he's been sick this week. Forunately I'm around to take care of him, and he had some extra free time to help me write this. He said we'll add more photos along with videos over time.

I remember my first week at catser was so much fun, so many new friends, and meow treats, too! I hope you'll enjoy reading my diary, and maybe we can be friends, too.
