Arrival Story:
I decided to adopt Bathsheba about 2 months after mourning the untimely death of my 6 yr old cat Gus who died of stomach cancer. A friend from my office knew of someone in a nearby office who had a cat with kittens. She brought the kittens to her office and I picked feisty Bathsheba from the litter.
Bio:
I named her Bathsheba after the main character from Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd.
Bathsheba ran away from home on two occasions during the summer months (two different years). I never knew where she went. She was missing about two weeks both times, but I never gave up hope that she would return. She used to be an active hunter who killed and ate squirrels, but as she has aged, she has become more of a homebody and is very loyal to me, her loving mom.

Note: Bathsheba died in November 2009 of squamous cell carcinoma in her mouth. She was 18.
