A Top Cat's Tails

Pretty Boombastic and quite fantastic

My mum and dad came to see me together tonight. They got almost a whole hour with me in a private room, because now I am no longer attached to an IV. A whole hour!!!

I lay on my mum's lap with my front paws on dad's knees. They were sad to see my many bald areas - I look more like a poodle that my brother Pooh who's a real poodle! Mum says she will have to knit me a sweater (if she can remember how).

But they were very happy because I looked good tonight, I was alert and paying attention to their voices and my ears were twitching at all the noises outside.

They gave me lots of kisses and talked to me and stroked me all the time. They snook in some photos too (which will be going on my page).

Then Dr Sardinas came in to chat. He said he is extremely impressed with me, and that for a guy my age, I have recovered and progressed very well - better than he expected (I explained to him that as Mr. Boombastic, there was simply no other way to be!)

Best of all, he said that if I was a good boy, I CAN COME HOME TOMORROW!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

He also said that an oncologist was starting with the practice on Monday (my timing has always been impeccable) and that I would see him for my future chemo treatments. He was 90% certain that the mass on my liver was cancerous but feels he "got" it all, whereas he's not sure if the mass on my pancreas was cancerous.... we must wait until next week for the biopsy results to know the details. Either way, all that stuff was better out than in, and Dr. Sardinas says although I am not cured, I will feel much better than I did, and it has bought me some unknown length of time. Then he told them that although tomorrow was his day off, he would go into the clinic to make sure I was ok, and sign me out to go home.

Mum and dad wanted to kiss him but they didn't, they kissed me instead. Then they said their au revoir's and practically danced out of the clinic...

Tomorrow evening I will be home, and from then on I will follow my new creed: PAW by PAW. And with each step I take I will be reminded of how the Power of the Paw made it possible for me to be here, how the hundreds of purrs sent my way helped me make it through the loss of one more of my lives....

Among the many wonderful messages I've received was one from a young tabby cat also called Tyler. This healthy young boy generously offered me one of his nine lives as a gift to keep me going. What an amazing act of kindness! And very timely as I believe I was down to my last one...

So many purrs, so many special thoughtful gifts and messages. I have been reminded how much I treasure my old friends, and how wonderful it is to make new ones... I love you all.

Yours forever,
Tyler

Wouldn't it be cool to have a "Furminator Fund" where we cats could send our groomed hairs to be spun into yarn from which could be knitted little sweaters, leg warmers, boots, hats anything that any shaved kitty needed to cover up his or her nekkidness!

But to be serious...
I'm glad you had such a nice long visit full of love, adoration and good news.
Going home will be good for your spirits too - to be among your family and your familiar things.

We're all for anything that gives more time to a bombastic time traveler !

What wonderful news! Yaay Tyler! We are so happy to hear that you're doing so well and might be coming home today.

Oncologists are good stuff. They know just what to do to get rid of the bad stuff. Chemo takes a little getting used to but if you've made it this far, I'm sure you'll be fine. I take mine in pill form and have been on it for over a year and it doesn't even phase me anymore. Although I don't like having to take ANOTHER pill, it has bought me many many good days, days of good health and comfort and, more importantly, time with my family.

While your future is a little uncertain, just take each day as it comes. Celebrate the little victories and cherish each moment you have. That's the important thing to remember. You have made it this far, through some very difficult days. I know there are some better days coming for you soon. Just hang in there!

You can't keep an Olde Furt down. We may take longer to get up again, but we do eventually!

I hope your next diary entry says "I'M HOME!!!"

Loves & Purrs,
Sally Maria
