My Name

One of my newest Catster Friends asked my family a very good question. How did we get our names? Well, most of us have a story, so we all decided to write diary entries about it.
My name is officialy Marshmallow. That's the name my Human Servants decided on after I moved in with them. They discarded several options before that, including Lira. That one had to do with Italian money, and the Man-Servant wanted that name because I was free. Silly, if you ask me. Finally the chose Marshmallow. Because I'm fluffy and white, obviously. But then, being the strange humans that they are, they never called me that. Instead, it was Kitty. All of my life.
Humans, whatcha gonna do?

For my Humans

My poor Human Servants. They miss me. Who can blame them really. I am fantastic. But I do feel bad for them. After all, they gave me years of dedicated service. I've been wanting to assure them that I am well and happy. It took them long enough, but they've finally noticed. I heard the Man-Servant telling one of the younger Servants that every once in a while he sees my tail flit past the edge of the couch, or that he and Woman-servant swear they catch a glimpse of me from the corner of their eyes.
All I have to say is, well, of COURSE you do! I am proud to say that I am a stubborn cat, they know I hate change. Why should they expect death to force me from my home or stop me from making my daily rounds about the house? I plan to continue to spend parts of my days near my humans.
Silly humans. I refuse to accept changes.

I've been tagged! Fun and purrs!

I've been tagged by Grey 2002-2005, the handsomest cat this side of the Bridge!!
Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write in their own diaries about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your diary!

MY LUCKY TAGGED CATS:
1- Princess - not fogotten (249135)
2- Gavroche (311763)
3- Thomas Anderson (581030)
4- Wishbone (561434)
5- Spook(558400)
6- Samantha (567637)
7- Jazzpurr (558800)

OK READY?

1) When I was young, I would sit on the TV and chase basketballs with my paws when the people watched a game.

2) As a kitten, when I first graced the humans with my presence, they thought I was grey, because my fur was so filthy from my hard outdoor life. I even had *shudder* fleas!

3) As a youngster, I was a fabulous huntress despite all odds. I was deaf and not allowed outside. Yet the humans would let me into the attached garage; there, I would catch mice (and I only brought one into the house… it was alive) and even snakes, amazing my servants with my skill.

4) I tolerate NO other cats around my servants. I’ve successfully chased two out of the home. One went outdoors, and one to College-Servant.

5) I love to play “tail game.” It was a great way to keep Man-Servant entertained for hours.

6) I love to be brushed. When I was alive, there was a red brush that I would rub against so insistently that I would knock it out of my servants’ hands. Silly servants. They should know to hold on tightly.

7) I have recently met the most loving poet ever! Grey 2002-2005, is so sweet to me!

Hello all, from the Bridge! Happy Fourth! I know my Girl servant and my other humans are very sad, and miss me today, my first birthday after I passed on.
I just wanted to thank the cats that have stopped by with well wished and birthday rosettes and treats so far today! It's lovely of you all to be so kind! My Girl servant is already beginning to smile.
I hope you all celebrate to the fullest today, and have the best Fourth of July imaginable! Party a little extra for me, okay!

Purr, Catster cats are so wonderful!

A Note From Marshmallow's Girl-Servant: Marshmallow passed away today, June the 5th, 2007. She was just one month shy of her 17th birthday.

This being a queen thing is rough. For awhile, I was kind of enjoying the whole cancer-scare. I mean, my Woman-Servant was being a most attentive servant. She feeds me fine canned cat food and brushes me thoroughly. It's very lovely and all but... eating is starting to hurt. This huge sore on my tongue slows me down when I try to eat and drink. Besides, it's really quite unbecoming of a queen to be so dependant on my human Woman.

[A note from Marshmallows Girl-Servant: Poor Kitty is still hanging tough. She remains social and happy but is declining. It doesn't sound like she's in horrible pain yet, but when she gets to that stage my family won't let her suffer. Purr for her everyone, she needs all the love she can get.]

Bad news...

The vet-men said that my antibiotics are not working. They told me and my person that the big sore on my tongue is skin cancer. Apparently that's the price I pay for having beautiful white fur - the vet says white animals are prone to skin cancers because we don't have pigment in our skin to protect us. So my people have decided to keep feeding me the good stuff (the wet stuff!!) and brushing my fur for me until I begin to show signs of pain. It's not to bad right now, I still like to play all my favorite games.

Sad purrs from the always Majestic Marshmallow.

I had to go to the vet...

My humans have been worried about me for a while now. Mostly because I'd stopped eating and my beautiful fur goat was getting dirty. So the mother human bought me canned cat food, hoping maybe I was just having problems with my teeth again. I ate it allllll up, that is some fine cuisine. But I still couldn't bring myself to clean my coat. Finally, I got hauled in to the vet. He told my people what I couldn't. I have a huge sore on my tongue. They have me on antibiotics for a couple weeks, but the doctor said that white animals like me are prone to this type of cancer. Mother human says that if this is the case, I'll only have to make one more trip to the vet. I don't think that's a good thing, however. Everyone please purr for me. I hope the medicines work, my mouth hurts so bad.

Oh, this "internet" gets better and better every day! You, my dear loyal subjects, continue to confirm what I've long-since known. I, am fabulous. I do believe I have a FOUR paw rating at the moment. And plenty of gracious admirers who leave treats to please me.

Your benevolent Queen,
Marshmallow

(Take that Bob. This PROVES who the people love best - tis I- the Queen of the "family"! Not that there was ever any doubt.)

Ah, the internet is a wonderful thing. It allows you humans (and felines, of course) to worship me from afar. Can't blame you really. I am beautiful. And smart. And modest.
Now I must say, the young Girl-Servant has done well in her duties so far (she's in charge of my publicity department) but I have several complaints about this website, or rather, my "friends" and "family." First of all, FAMILY!? I thought Bob had been done away with! It took me years to get him booted out of my domain! You tell me that he still lives? That he is right outside my very door? I knew there was a suspiciously large cat-shaped shadow passing my window yesterday. This shall have to be dealt with swiftly. Where are my human servants!? I must "chat" with them.
As for my "friend" Starburst, I thought I was rid of her too. I ordered the young Girl-Servant to remove Starburst when Girl-Servant went to that place called college. Does that not hint that I do not wish to be associated with Miss Starbursts? Oh well. Girl-servant is young yet. She will learn. Besides, Star wasn't THAT bad. And it will help her boost her cat-status to be associated with my greatness and called friend. I shall allow it because I do have a benevolent streak.
