My beloved Callie passed away this morning at 4 a.m. She was my little girl amidst all the boy cats. Callie was the best kitty ever. We were together 16 years and 4 months.
This is very hard, especially after losing Max 8 months before this.

I'm dying.
It's horrible that Mommy has to help me write this. She's in tears a lot of the time. I still climb up on her and sleep on her sometimes during the night, but often I just curl up on her desk and sleep there. Mommy is so used to having me sleep on top of her at night that, even though she's asleep, she is aware when I'm not.
I didn't eat today. I wanted to eat El Pollo Loco chicken that she brought home, but I just couldn't. Mommy will buy some baby food tomorrow in the hope that I eat that.
I'm skin and bones now. I make a weird noise (maybe it's my teeth making the noise?) when I eat, and I'm very dehydrated. I look horrible.
Did my cancer return? I have bad breath and I'm drooling now (Mommy read that these are signs of melanoma)--and I'm so thin, like a cancer patient. I remind Mommy of Mignon, who died of lymphoma in 2000.
Mommy says she doesn't think she can bear losing me. I'm her special little girl. We've been together since October 1994, when she adopted me.
We think I'm either 17, 18 or 19 years old ... we're not sure. I've had a wonderful life with Mommy, but it's still too short.
Mommy says she loves my face. I have gorgeous eyes, she says, and I have the cutest divided face she's ever seen. And she loves my ears. I have tufts of fur at the tips of my ears.
What is so sad is that Mommy and I will be parted forever very soon. We'll never see each other again, and that is very hard for both of us.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm doing a little better.
Mommy put me in a bathroom and gave me my own food bowl and litter box. I liked it and felt safe there. Now she brings me into the bedroom every day so I can spend time with her and the kitties. But if the dogs come into the room, I hide under the bed. I never used to do that. But guess I'm not feeling all that terrific yet.
Last night, I spent the night with Mommy again. She's so used to have me sleep on top of her that she had a hard time sleeping without me. Yeah, Max and I always used to sleep on her--but I'm a lot lighter than Max was, so Mom preferred me.
Baxter is just too heavy for words and Joey sleeps next to Mom, but not on top of her. So now that Max is gone, Mommy really misses me.
Well, I'm rambling a bit here--but just wanted to let you know that I do feel a little bit better. But I'm still way too thin and I still need your prayers and support.
MOL!

I'm very sick and am hiding under mommy's bed. I am still eating--I ate almost all of mommy's El Pollo Loco chicken breast today--but I'm very thin and my breathing is too low.
Mommy just spent a lot of money on my younger brother, Max, trying to get him well, but he died on Thursday. Mommy says she can't bear to lose me too, but I feel that I'm slipping away. And there's no money to take me to the vet. Mommy is distraught.
I'm either 16 or 18 years old, Mommy doesn't know for sure. But she keeps telling me to hang on!
Please pray for me.

For those not familiar with Congo's case:
1. two illegal immigrants were gardening at the family's house
2. they arrived an hour early
3. they were told by the husband to stay in their truck until he could
get out of the shower and get some clothes on
4. the husband speaks Spanish and spoke to them in Spanish so there is
no question they understand what they were told to do
5. they directly disobeyed the husband and walked into the backyard with
the wife, who had just pulled into the driveway)
6. the two adult gsd's and their puppies came running
7. the gardeners panicked
8. ONE GARDENER GRABBED THE WIFE AND WRESTLED HER TO THE GROUND, USING
HER AS A PROTECTIVE SHIELD
9. Congo thought his owner was being attacked and went after the gardener
10. The gardener used his rake to beat at the puppies and inflicted some
injuries on them.
11. the gardener changed his story three times (interesting note on
official bias: when the owner said the gardener changed his story five
times, the dog warden said "No, he only changed his story 3 times.")

We're one of the lucky cats. The sky is white, the moon is red and ash is falling, but we're safe. We're just so glad that the winds have stopped...at least for now.
It was so dry on Monday that Mommy said her hands looked like a lizard's. It was less than 10% humidity. Yuck!
We're all indoors, but on Monday, Mom was outside a lot with the dogs (so they could do their business), so her allergies were awful. She finally bought a box of protective masks yesterday, but they're so hot to wear that she ends up taking them off.
Anyway, keep all those poor kitties and doggies that are affected by the fires in your thoughts and prayers.
MOL!

Minuet tagged me to play a game where we name 10 cats of our choice, say something nice about them in our diary and send them a paw mail to continue on...so here you are!
1) Simba - One of the most courageous - and popular - kitties on Catster!
2) Ginger Belle - We are sisters under the fur, and we kinda look alike too!
3) Buster - We sure miss him!
4) Tayla - Our dear friend!
5) Miss Dback - We miss her a lot too.
6) Louis LeBeau - We respect his passion for white plastic forks.
7) Simba - Our Aussie pal.
8) Socks - Still quite the kitten and Simba's playmate. What a cutie!
9) Hondo - One of my oldest pals on Catster.
10) Princess Nikki - The most regal Catster of all!

Mom picked this up in our Catster group, Cats and Dogs Needing Adoption ASAP! His name is Oscar and he's adorable. He lives in South Carolina and needs a forever home immediately. His tummy problems sound exactly like ours - Max, Joey Bear and I all eat I/D too.
Here is his story by his current owner:
Hello everyone!!! Please help me, I need to find a home IMMEDIATELY for a 11 year old male Persian cat! My parents are threatening to take him to the pound where I am sure that he will get euthanized (spelling)! If you know any organization or any person who would want to take care of Oscar, please let me know ASAP!
This is the post I made on the Catster Adoption Forums:
Hi everyone! My name is Oscar, I am an 11 year old male Persian cat. My current owner is going off to college next year and her parents do not want to take care of me since I sort of have extra needs.
I would do well in a household with no young children and if you are interested in adopting me, PLEASE do not get rid of me! I am old enough as it is! I need a house with either an elderly person or mature adults. My owner is my second owner ever, and my first owner had to find a new home for me because she had a baby and could not care for me as much as she wanted to.
My two front paws are de-clawed (my current owner did not do this, my first one did!) and I am neutered. I have some sort of stomach problem and the only food I can eat is the Prescription Diet Feline I/D cat food! Dry food or wet food is fine, I'm not that picky!
I would much like to be in a home where I am the only pet, I do not get along with dogs and I would VERY MUCH PREFER not to be with any other cats. I am not a lap cat, I am more like a dog because I will follow you around and enjoy being in your presence but I will not stay in your lap and I do not purr!
I throw up about 2 or 3 times a week and I shed and need to be brushed often (DUH! I am a Persian cat). When I use the litter box I do not cover my poop so unless you want it to smell bad in the room my litter is it, please scoop it after I poop! Those are pretty much all of my flaws, so if you are interested in adopting me, please send me a message or reply here! Thank you!
(serious inquiries only)
PS- I am an indoor cat only!!
PPS- If you can adopt me AND my cat friend Morgan, please let me know!!

Today is a sad day. Poor Catalio, our friend's 18-year-old orange tabby died this morning at home. He didn't have to be put down, but he died peacefully at home.
Three months ago, he was diagnosed with CRF. In fact, one vet wanted to put him down right then and there, but luckily Marc said no. Can you imagine that vet jumping the gun like that? Be wary of that - many vets out there are like that.
Anyway, Marc made sure the kitty was hydrated and he and "Talio got to spend three more months together.
'Talio was a great kitty; he will be missed.
