Today they took me to the v-e-t! I was having a nice nap downstairs when I decided to go upstairs fur a snack, and found that the doors to several rooms (with especially effective hiding places) were closed. I knew something was up, but it was too late to hide—the faithless humans had tricked me! Meow! Dad picked me up and mom got out the carrier. He put me in and she zipped it over my head—I was trapped! Then it was off to the CAR! I had to leave MY PALACE and ride in the CAR!
I let them know how I felt about it, all right. The trip to the vet took about 15 minutes, and that’s about half the number of long, angry meows they had to listen to.
When I got to the vet I decided to adopt a nonviolent, passive resistance strategy—thank you, Gandhi! I went limp and forced them to pick me up and move me themselves if they wanted. Meanwhile, I used the usual feline technique to make myself as heavy as possible. The vet tech could hardly manage to carry me.
On the bright side, while the trip seemed interminable to me, the whole thing actually didn’t last long. Dr. Gavaletz said the diet formulation of my usual food seemed to be working, as I had actually lost about ¾ of a pound since my last visit. The growth on my face that he removed a year and a half ago has not grown back (on his own cat, a similar growth grew back twice in the same amount of time). My teeth are in good shape, and my luxurious fur is abundant and healthy (good information to have as we approach shedding season, MOL!).
On the way back I didn’t really need to meow, since I knew very well that I was being taken home, but I decided to anyway as a matter of principle and to make sure they wouldn’t think about making any stops along the way. It’s very important to be firm with humans!
As soon as I got home I ran around to make sure nothing had changed during my absence. Then it was time fur a long, healing nap. . . .

Mommy tries to use the closed doors approach with me, too. Next time, try to get yourself under a bed as soon as you think they are planning something. That's what I did when I went to the vet last week. I hid under Mommy's bed and wouldn't come out! Mommy had to move the bed and other furniture to get me! You have to be fast or this won't work.
Oh my cat Athena do we sound alike..MOL....That sounds like the same thing that happens when I go to the vet..Mom has to kinda trick me and when I get zipped up in that carrier I know what's happening and I will tell mom the whole way there how much I don't like this..MOL...I am glad to know all is okay with you...Being our healthiest is sooooo important..Love ya...xoxox
You had me scared there for a minute with that diary title, Athena! I'm glad that your checkup went well and that your health is good!
*giggles* Well, maybe I overdid it a bit?
