Diary Pick!

Wow! I haven't had this honor in a long time. I guess it's cause I haven't written anything in a long time. Well, to follow up, I finally got some of those salmon treats. I want to eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but Mom says that treats are treats and not meals. But guess what she did now. She bought even yummier treats - Stella and Chewy's freeze-dried raw food. She was trying to hide from me, but I can smell it. I got a little crumb. I guess only Rafiki gets the good stuff. It's just not fair.

The freeze dried salmon treats. I know they're in the house. Rafiki had them on his breath. I can smell them on Mom's fingers. I want them. I told Mom I know they're here and that I want some. Now. NOW I said. I'm still waiting.

We just want to take a moment to wish all of our friends happy holidays. This year started out badly but is ending up pretty good. Mom found a full-time job in June and a part-time job in September. Us kitties are doing okay too. Mom is off all next week, so we get to have lots of quality time with her. Enjoy this wonderful time of year! Luv, Benjamin

If we still have any friends left, I just want to let you know that we are okay. Mom's been busy and unmotivated to help us get back to Catster, but hopefully we will be soon. Miss you friends!

Another year come and gone.

August 20th was my birthday. Another year come and gone. I've been here in my furever home for five years now.

It was a pretty good day. Mom had off, so she could spend extra time with me. I got a cheesy treat. Real cheese, not just a cheese flavored cat treat. I love cheeses, but Mom says I have to stay pretty strictly on my prescription diet 'cause of my kidney stones and all. I got a fresh (nip) banana too.

The vet called last week. She had an article for us on lower urinary tract disease and some special treats for me to try and some pain medication for me to try too. She has another patient with similar issues, and that kitty's mom called Cornell. She told the vet about what they said, so the vet called Cornell about me. That's how she got the article and found out about the treats and trying the pain med.

The article basically says stress is the culprit. We kind of already new that was a good part of it. The treats are called Composure, but I don't like them. They smell like vitamins. The vet said they were yummy. Either she lied, or we have different taste preferences. The pain medication I have to try for ten days, twice a day. I'm not taking that well either. See, they switched my food again. Now I'm back to the Royal Canin food which I used to really like, but now I don't think I like it as well. So, instead of snarfing it up with the pain med mixed in, I don't each much of it. That means, I really am only getting one dose at night in my tuna treat.

Mom feels bad after reading the article. It talks about the stress of multi cat households. I try to remain calm, but you know, sometimes it's hard. The other cats make me nervous. I'm afraid they are going to attack me, so I attack them first. Well, at least I used to, now we only see each other through my bedroom door, or sniff under the basement door. I can't attack them any more. Actually, I get along with Rafiki, but he makes me nervous too.

It's been a pretty good weekend. Mom was off, so we had lots of quality time, and i got to go out on the deck. I like that pretty much. We're also finally getting some Catster time this evening. Lots of catching up to do ...

Back from the vet.

Well, it's been an awful long day. Mom dragged me off to the vet this morning. I kept asking and asking for breakfast. What was wrong with her???? No breakfast. Then she spread out a towel in the carrier. I went in to investigate, and I was trapped. I do that all the time! Anyway, I knew I was in trouble then.

We get there, and Mom is talking to the receptionist asking what time she can pick me up. What? She left me there to be tortured all alone! Boy was I mad. I was scared and hungry and anxious and mad! They poked and prodded me and then all of a sudden I started to wake up, but I didn't feel that great. I still don't. Mom says I'm loopy. The vet tech said I'd sleep it off. Hardly. I have things things to sniff, places to sniff and people and cats to sniff. Who knows what went on while I was gone?!

The good thing is there is nothing wrong with me that they can see. They did some kind of contrast dye thing, and then they poofed up my bladder with air. Got sub-Q fluids too. The vet said my bladder is beautiful! But they also did blood work and said creatin is up. That's not too good. Now I have to switch from one special diet for my kidney stones to one which will go easier on my kidney function.

So ... I guess I will always have this scary red pee. Mom is going to check in with the behaviorist because it could be stress related.

If everybody just left me alone, I wouldn't have stress!

Goin' to the vet.

Mommy made me eat Pill Pockets this morning. She did they same thing she does for Rafiki: sticks the yummy Party Mix treats onto them to make them more appealing. She said I will start to feel relaxed. Then she got out the big carrier. I went in it for a while. Then she said 'we have to go to the vet'. I don't like it, not one bit! Grrrrrr!

Nap time

I had a two hour nap with Mommy today. Then she got up, and I kept napping. She ran the vac, and I kept napping. She ran the Spot Bot, and I kept napping. She said she won't be able to sleep tonight. I will.

Say 'cat'

I was sitting on the stool in front of the door this afternoon watching Mommy work in the yard. All of a sudden, a very, very, very small person came over to see what she was doing. Then another very, very, very small person who looked exactly like the first very, very, very small person came over too. Then a regular size person came over too. They were very interested in Mommy, but then she said 'did you see the kitty'? She meant me. So, over they came to the door. We were face to face. I meowed at them to let me out, but they wouldn't. Then Rafiki came over. All four of us looked at each other. Rafiki and I talked a lot. The very small people didn't, but they made some noises. Mom kept talking about 'kitties', and finally one of the small people started saying 'ca', so Mom changed to 'cat', and finally the one little person said 'cat'! A very important word to learn, and I'm glad I was able to help. Soon after, they had to leave, and as you can imagine, they were very distressed about having to leave me, so they started crying. Dreadful! I told them that I am here all the time and to come visit again, and so they stopped fussing. What shall I teach them next time? "Let me out!"

I had my very own party!

I had my very own party today. Mommy got up and left the house fast. I wandered down the stairs to the basement door, and guess what I found? The big bag of Party Mix!!!!! Woo hoo! It was zipped closed, but that was no problem. I clawed and bit it till I got a nice big hole in it, and I helped myself to as much as I wanted. Everyone else was on the other side of that door, so I didn't have to share! MOL!

Mom came home soon after though. I didn't say anything. When she went down the stairs, she found the bag and what was left of the Party Mix. She said "Benjamin!", and that's all. What does she expect? If she leaves it, I'll eat it!!!!
