Arrival Story:
I had my other cat, Bo, for almost 3 years and decided he needed a companion for when I'm not at home. I looked online for kittens, and decided to go to the Fort Worth Animale Care and Control shelter. All of the kittens were adorable, but I couldn't stop hearing this one kitten that sounded like a squeaky toy. When the gentleman removed her from her cage and handed her to me, she bolted up my arm to my shoulder and sat there. I knew, she was the one. She was an amazing kitten who triumphed over a lot. The four days we spent together were amazing. I miss her, a lot.

My Tail of Devotion for Annie Duke 5/06~7/26/06

From the moment I heard your squeaky meow, I knew you were the kitten for me. When the shelter worker let me hold you and you climbed up on my shoulder I was sold. Yes, you scared me almost to death when you had to go the emergency room that very first night , but I don't regret adopting you.

You were with me all of 4 days. Even though you spent your days at the vet, our nights together were enough to make me love you forever. From trying to eat my burrito to scaring Bo, you were one of a kind.

I wish I could have done more to make you better. I wish you hadn't gotten pneumonia. I wish the shelter had monitored your health better. I wish we could have spent one full day together.

I wish a lot of things, but I know deep in my heart that the time we did spend together was special. I'm glad you had a home at least once in your life. You were my miracle, and I was your's. At least your life was filled with love, and your passing was in the arms of family instead of the cold steel of a shelter cage.

I miss you, Annie Duke. But more importantly you'll always be in my heart, and I love you just as much as I love Bo. Hopefully, one day, we'll find each other again. Then you can sit on my shoulder forever.

-Sara
