Arrival Story:
http://www.picturetrail.com/dmitri kitty (if for some reason Catster adds in a space between DmitriKitty--just take that space out) _________________________________ He came to us July 9th, after a friend called and said there was something wrong with her sister's cat's leg. They didn't know what had happened but he apparently was unable to walk on the leg. _________________________________ When we went to pick him up, his leg was completely dangling and puffy. He was dehydrated, malnourished, and barely breathing. Who knows how long he was suffering like that? _________________________________ We took him immediately to the Angels of Mercy emergency clinic in San Antonio, (where he laid on the table for five hours before they finally took an x-ray). His leg was completely detached from his body. He had two breaks on his leg and a fracture on his pelvis. _________________________________ They gave him pain medication and antibiotics, and we took him to the Alamo Veterinary Clinic the next day. They gave us the option of trying to save the leg (his bones were so small that they would probably crack and never heal correctly, and he would definitely have arthritis for the rest of his life) or to amputate (hard choice for us, we wanted to save his leg at whatever the cost, but they said it would heal quicker and get him back to his kitten self again in no time). The doctor called us after the surgery and said that they would have had to amputate no matter what, because the bone was infected. They said there was an enormous amount of pus that leaked out when they opened him up, so they had to put in extra drainage tubes. _________________________________ The tubes came out the first Saturday we took him back home (July 15, 2006). _________________________________ He was also anemic before the surgery; they had to perform a blood transfusion.

Bio:
Dmitri's veterinarian is fantastic; he absolutely adores Dmitri, and took him home every night that Dmitri was at the hospital because he couldn't sleep knowing he was there alone. _________________________________ The entire staff at the veterinary hospital loves Dmitri too, and have been worried for him and excited to see him every time we call or go in. They all say, "He's just so sweet" "we love that little kitty" "he's a fighter" "he's so spoiled!" and "does he still meow when he wants to be held"? Yes he does!

Oh Le Sigh, since the last time I have written I seem to have grown more spoile-- ahem cultured... I am able to make the entire human population drop every important thing that they are doing with one meow and seem to get away with attacking the other animals in the house (and get anything that touches me into trouble).

My family says that they are very grateful to everyone who has been emotionally involved with me and says that having people to talk to about what was going on was the best thing ever!

We are sorry about the lack of updates etc, but everything has really been so hectic, and they decided to take some time out this weekend to take new pictures and update these Cat/Dogsters!

P.S. Since we are updating this Catster, you will still be able to find his old photos at http://www.picturetrail.com/dmitrikitty (if for some reason Catster adds a space between dmitrikitty, just take that space out)

Dmitri has been fixed!
The vet can not believe how huge Dmitri is getting!
Everyone there thought that he would stay tiny forever!

He's such a little brat though! My grandma brought two tiny grey kittens home and he holds them down and bites them.

He's so brave too, he keeps trying to run outside (which the vet said is a no no).

Sorry Everyone

We have been so busy!
My mommy returned to work recently and has barely had the time to take photographs of me :(

But at some point this week, there should be new pictures up at the picturetrail.com/dmitrikitty site.

Dmitri has been to the vet twice since I last wrote.
He had his shots completed last Saturday.

The vet said that he was healing beautifully.
And that he is amazed that Dmitri's hair has already grown back in and wanted to know what we were feeding him.

Dmitri's twitching and jumping has stopped for the most part (the vet was unconcerned with it saying that it would go away, and he seems to be right).

It's almost time for him to get fixed!
How exciting :D

Dmitri also attacks the other cats and dogs in the house.
He plays with them and especially loves Princess Buttercup, I guess since they are the same size.
