Needing purrrs

So mom found a large bump near the base of my tail, sorta at 11:00 for location. It's pretty big and she's not sure how she didn't see it until yesterday. She brushes me a lot 'cause I seem to shed to no end. She made an appointment but it's going to be a while till I see the vet mom wants to see. I don't appear to be in pain but she hopes it's just a big old man bump/mass and not the dreaded "C".

Seems weird to have the dreaded "C" since it's by my tail no? It's not an impacted gland as I never had issues with that and it's on top not the bottom.

Purrrs appreciated.

Purrs for you Hondo!

Hopefully it is just an owie! Since Boogers had a scratch near his eye recently and now you have a tail lump, maybe you two got a little too into your last wrestling match?

Mom found this online...

Cats that live in a house with multiple cats or other pets often get bitten on the tail. Bites may occur as a result of rough play, territorial disputes or battles of unknown origin. A bite, or more to the point a puncture wound resulting from a bite, can close over, trapping material inside the wound which then becomes infected and swells to a hard or soft mass. These abscesses can occur on any part of your cat's body and will need veterinary care to resolve. The veterinarian will usually open and drain the abscess as part of the treatment.

Lets hope it is something like that instead of anything starting with C!

Thanks everyone. Zoey, mom did't see a open sore/wound so we're not sure if it is an abscess but thank you for the informative info :)

I think Zoey might be right. It might just be a scratch that turned into a bump. Maybe it is a zit like Pansy had on her face! Has she come over as a nurse to inspect it yet? Maybe it's a good thing if she doesn't know about it. We're all purring that it isn't anything bad!

Sending special purrs from heaven to you Hondo! we sure hope it isn't anything serious, will be sending you healing angel dust and a butterfly from heaven...

That is way it is so important to groom and check your pets, sometimes they are not there one day and the next a lump appears. Please make sure you don't put getting it checked!
