Oh this morning was just wonderful; I didn't want it to ever end. I climbed back into bed before Mama did this morning (after she got up to feed us and read the newspaper, that is) so she picked me up.
Instead of moving me out of the way, like she usually does, this time she held me and rubbed my chin and behind my ears and kissed me and just loved one me. It was so wonderful; its been such a crazy week around here!
It all started last Monday night, when Mama went to say hello to new hamster sister Reese and was horrified to find out that Reese had lost one of her back paws during the day! Mama has no idea how it happened; I don't remember hearing Reese in distress, but sure enough, one of her back paws was gone and in its place was a swollen leg with dried blood on it.
Mama panicked and washed it off before she called one of the bunny people at the shelter who is a vet helper purson. They talked and then Mama gave Reese some pain medicine.
But on Tuesday Reese's leg got very, very big, so on Wednesday Mama took her to see Dr. Shawn, who gave her more medicine to take but said that her leg looked good. Mama hasn't found the paw yet, but Reese is taking her medicine (not happily, so I hear) and the swelling and healing is going well, Mama says.
Then on Thursday, Mama took Monet, our 3-colored guinea pig, to the vet. I was worried something was wrong with him, but Mama said it was just his well piggie visit. He checked out just fine so that made Mama so happy!
Poor Mama's been having such allergy problems and she's had a hard time seeing and reading and smelling things so she's been taking pills and sleeping. She was so messed up that she ended up giving Reese way too much medicine and gave her 14 days worth of antibiotic medicine in 5 days. Mama couldn't figure out why she ran out of medicine so quick and complained to the girls at Dr. Shawn's office. That's when they told her what happened and then Mama felt so silly.
So, since "Dr. Sab" has not taken his responsibilities to heart, I have stuck to Mama like glue, as she says, and I've been a very good nurse. Mama's head and nose won't bother her if I sit on her head! That's my plan!
