I'd Like to Thank Catster for Making me COTD!!!!!August 9th 2009 6:52 am[ Leave A Comment ]
I am so glad my mom decided to check her computer this morning before taking off for vacation. I've been feeling sad because I saw the suitcase (and we all know what THAT means), but now I feel a little bit better because I'm CAT OF THE DAY! It's truly a great honor. I can't wait to tell my cousin Aidan and my Uncle Nguyen when they come over to feed Bob and me later today.

Generally I don't write in my diary very often, but something happened last night that was so exciting, I felt compelled to share it with with world of Catster. I live in a townhouse, and although there are nice trees all around it, we don't get too many wild critter sightings. But last night, I saw a magnificent skunk! My human mother had just come out onto our patio to call me in. She didn't see me, so she walked to the front steps. Then she turned her head and saw the biggest, fluffiest, fattest skunk! It was only 5 feet away and barreling right towards her like a black and white tank. Then she saw me. I, CNN the intelligent, knew enough to give this funny not-cat animal a wide berth. I was up on top of the patio fence, looking down on Pepe le Pue. I don't think he even saw me.

![]() As we approach the sad 5 year anniversary of September 11, 2001, I am reminded of how my magnificent cat CNN came to adopt me, and how much comfort she continues to bring to our family every day. In October 2001, I was, like so many other Americans, spending the nights glued to my television set, watching the horrible events of 9-11 unfold over and over again. One night around 10pm, I was watching the cable news network CNN, and I was depressed...thinking of how my home city of NY had been destroyed. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw some movement on the patio. A little cat, about 5 months old was watching me from the other side of the sliding glass door. I opened it, and in walked a precious four footed angel with tiger stripes and the prettiest emerald green eyes. She didn't have a collar, and her ear was clipped. She had obviously been a catch, fix and release cat from an animal rescue group. CNN (stands for Cat News Network now) walked into my house like she owned the place. She has been my cat ever since. She is the most intelligent animal, and absolutely fearless. One night I was out working in the garage quite late, with the door open to the back yard. I saw a large grey animal dart by, with CNN in hot pursuit. Whatever it was (racoon? possum? Big Foot?), CNN was determined to protect me from it. It was easily three times her size. CNN is always full of purr and she sleeps on the end of my bed like a sentinel. She has even come to tolerate her new cat brother Bob, and she tries to protect him too when they are outside. Whenever I am feeling sad, or anxious, I think of my beautiful girl cat CNN. She spent the first few months of her life living on the streets, and she is not afraid of anything. She brings love and bravery to my life, and I am devoted to her forever. I love you CNN! ---Your Human Mom, Jane
