The Life of Scrumps

Pistaschio Enemy #1

Today Mom was having Pistaschio nuts as a snack and she had all the shells in a little bowl on the table and there were one or two that fell onto the floor. Now, I really dislike these shells, I try and try and try to squash them with my paws of steel because they remind me of the crunchy little beetles I like to squish when I'm outside. After trying in vain for quite some time, I developed a way to get rid of these un-squishable beetle shells. I pick them up in my mouth, jump up on the sofa, and then I use my long legs to stuff the shells deep down into the cracks between the sofa cushions where I never have to see them again. Mom says it's not nice to stuff garbage between the sofa cushions, but what does she know? I think she was surprised when she took off the cushions and discovered my stash of about 15 shells, but I was a little miffed because I was worried that they would escape so I jump up and stuffed them deep into the cracks where the sofa springs where so Mom will never get them! Mwah-Ha-Ha-Ha! Mom thinks this is weird, but she just doesn't understand sometimes!

Protecting My Mommy! What A Big Night!

Last night it seemed like a lot of people where making big noises outside of my favourite window! Some little people where setting off all kinds of fireworks and firecrackers in the field across the street very late at night so I kept my guard post at the window to check it all out and then I ran into Mom's bedroom and sat on her back and meowed and meowed until she woke up so she could come check my window too! I ran right over and put my paws on the screen so she would know where to look. I was very worried but my mom assured me that it was nothing to be upset about. I meowed very loudly out the window many times so the little people would know who's the boss around these parts and to leave my mom alone to sleep! My baby brother was also scared by the noises and he hide under the bed, but when he came out to peek once everything calmed down, I cleaned his face and belly because I know it makes him relax and he quickly fell back asleep on his favourite pillow.
Mom says I am a very brave boy for letting her know that there was something going on outside of my favourite window and for comforting my baby brother. I even got Tuna for breakfast, with the juice on top too! I was nice and let Sammy have a taste too, even though he's more of a milk kinda guy.
Well I'm off to sit at my station and keep watch over the neighbourhood. Nobody better mess around when Ralph Humphrey's on duty!

Ralphie here, my parents just took it upon themselves to cut my exceptionally long and sharp camping claws! They were the best for swiping bugs, digging in the dirt, burying my food and they gave me great traction on my new carpet! It's so unfair that I am going to refuse to eat any treats my mom tries to give me. I'm off to go hide under the bed....mom gets no kisses today!!

All Boys Luv Trucks

Well ever since Ralphie started his cross country journey in the car, he's been quite taken by trucks. We now live in a somewhat industrial town where Mac trucks and the such frequently drive by our house. Whenever a large truck is heard, Ralphie drops whatever he's doing/eating and blazes a trail to the nearest window to check it out. It must be a large truck, pickups don't count, and he gets especially excited when the truck is putting on the brakes or shifting gears. As I am writing this he just ran across my desk to check out the latest Mac Truck which honked it's loud horn....he's in heaven!

I Heart my Harness

Well ever since completing his road trip, Ralphie will no longer allow us to take off his little black harness. You see, Ralphie can be a little too curious at times so he is kept on a long leash, which he actually enjoys. I think he associates the harness with getting to go for adventures in the car so if it is removed, he thinks he will be stuck inside. There is also a bell on the harness, which he will also not let me remove so he's constantly jingling with every step he takes. But somehow he seems to be able to remain silent when stealing his treats out of the cupboards....Hmmmmm.....
