My Reign as Miss Cat Universe

Scary stuff last night

The hoomans were scared last night. There was a bright flash outside Mom's window and the bell-thingie rang once in the hall.

Neither one of them slept much after that and Dad worked from home. He wasn't feeling so good anyway.

Mom's especially cuddly and worrying about getting us out if something goes wrong. I think we're going to have fire drills.

I wonder what that means.

I got a box!

Oh yes I did! It shook and it rattled and it chirped like a bird. I like this box much. It's my prizes from Miss Cat Universe.

Of course, the most cool thing was the box. We really liked the box til Mom took it away.

I got a little red sparkly ball. It's all mine and I've hidden it well. Reesie's playing with the jingly, chirpy things.

I'm NOT going to put on that Tiara. NO WAY!

I think his name is Nemo

Socks, our adopted father in the Netherlands, has a brand new kitten to deal with. He's orange with white socks and he looks very cute. Socks' Mama had contacted a humane society near them and they called her right away with kittens. We're all so glad and purring good wishes across the ocean to the new arrival.

Oh yeah, and we'd like Daddy Socks to like him, too...eventually!

The kitten looks a LOT like Uncle Kramer, you suppose they're related?

Cat-ching up: What it was like to win Miss Cat Universe and- Losing a Friend

Taking a PAWS to catch up here. My first entry shoulda been yesterday, but da hooman was having technical difficulties getting our pages up:

Here's what Reesie (my brother) and I said about winning in the Cat Universe Pageant. I was Miss Cat Universe. Reesie was 4th Runner up for Mister and one of the candidates for Best eyes. He does have good eyes and he uses them to get out of trouble!

Thank you all for your congratulations for my brother and me on our wins in the Cat Universe Contest. It's an honor to recieve this award--especially for cats like us with such humble beginnings.

You see, Reesie and me came from the Animal Shelter in San Antonio, Texas. We were there with our Mom and three other sibs and time was running out. Then, the shelter people showed us to a nice lady named Beth who usually took Persian cats--but she made an exception because Reesie and me were Siameezers and she thought she could place us. So she took our Calico cat mom and our litter of five--the other three kittens were two tabbies and a calico like our Mom--Mom got around!

Turned out, that happened real quick. Mom had lost Samwise, a kitten of just 7 months, and she was looking for a new household member.

Mom actually came to see my bro, Reesie, but Beth had a secret plan. She wanted us to go together and she figured if she showed me to Mom, she'd take us both. Being an Evil Genius, I cooperated by purring and batting my big blues at her. Poor Mom, she still was red-eyed from crying over Sammers when we first met--then she cried again when she held us. We purred, of course, cause we like her. We do purr a lot, but mostly for her--cause she's our Mom!

It was a long time before Mom could come take us home. We had to be 'tutored' and 'swayed' at Dr. Pokey's, plus we got a nasty cold and were 'nebulous' for a while there, too.

But, when we came home. Mom and Dad made sure we were very comfortable. Mom calls us Pinky and the Brain cause I'm always thinking.
And, yes, we've got goals for this year. First, we want to thank all the wonderful, selfless people like Beth who rescue kitties like us from the shelter and take care of us til they can find our forever homes. You know, when we were weaned, Beth kept Mom and she fed a whole 'nuther litter of babies that had lost their birth-mommy? So, she not only gave all of us a chance to live, but a whole lotta other kitties too!

Second, we'd like to tell our story far and wide so people know that great cats come from everywhere: shelters, breeders, and all kinds of places. So don't overlook anywhere when you want to find a new member of your household.

Third, we want to remind folks to take us to Dr. Pokey and do what he or she recommends to keep us healthy and with them for a long time--yeah, that includes shots and 'tutoring'. Dr. Roy Smith, our favorite Dr. Pokey, did a lot for us--making sure Mom and Dad knew the best foods and medicines to give us to keep us healthy and happy for a long time!

Fourth, we'd like to encourage all owners to remember the power of play where their animals are concerned, too! We like to run, fetch paper wads, and attack micies, too.

Fifth, we'd also like to encourage science to aid felines with better diets to prevent feline diabetes and other diseases, help us live longer, better lives--and we'd like opposible thumbs, please!

Oh and yeah--I haven't given up on that take over the world plot yet. With Mo and my faithful (but goofy) brother at my side, we'll win one lap at a time!

Yesterday was hopeful. Today, we're all sad. Our friend Casper in the Netherlands died of FIP today. Poor baby was only six weeks old. Please, hoomans, work on a cure for this terrible disease!
