Arrival Story:
I willingly welcomed Lucy into my home to give her the life she deserves as she was too shy for most folks - no one wanted her. She is no longer quite so shy, even takes field trips in the hallway in my apartment and has made several special friends here - she's becoming more curious and confident every day - will come up to people where she used to hide under the bed for hours. It's an amazing journey and I'm honored to be her meowmy.

Bio:
Lucy came to me by a wonderful breeder who just wanted her to have a good life as she was 6 months old when I got her and too shy for most folks. I adopted her knowing she'd need a lot of special attention and quiet, fortunately she has thrived in her forever home and has even made friends, her best friends are her brother Hobbes and another bengal, a big boy who comes to visit often whose name is Chui. These cats are like the energizer bunny - tons of fun to be a slave to! I am fortunate to have been adopted by her and Hobbes and to know and love Chui, she and Hobbes are the loves of my life....and Chui is a most special friend. We welcomed her real brother, Hobbes into our little lives August 2006, he is SO loved by both me and Lucy, they are like long lost chums together! It's a bengal bonanza around here...and Lucy is in charge - she can tackle her brother from across the room...

Benglish

May 6th 2008 2:58 pm   [link to this entry]

So in my Bengals are Crazy group, we've been talking about "Benglish", or the language of a Bengal..it seems we meow slightly differently than other kitties...I thought I'd share. For example, when Meowmy sneezes, I "chirp" at her. When she fake sneezes (don't think I don't know the difference, silly!), I also chirp - like a birdie. Also, I do the yawn/chirp combo - chirping makes me yawn. Hmmm, I don't know why this is. And when Meowmy talks to me and asks me about my day, I answer back in one or two syllable chirps. When I'm under the bed and getting SQUISHY RUBS (ok, belly rubs - but my belly is extra squishy, hence the nickname) - I look at Meowmy, blink my eyes, she blinks back and I softly chirp again.

All so ladylike and dignified.

Here's what Hobbes does -
high pitched sissy SCREAMS standing in the bathtub waiting for Meowmy to turn on the water so he can have a drink. He also does a broken, raspy "murr-hooow, murr-hooow" kind of sound.
He thinks he's large and in charge, but his sissy meows rat him out.!!
HA!
I told on you, Hobbes
