Arrival Story:
Boxer was found in a box with other kittens at about six days old. I bottle fed all of them day and night until they could eat on their own. Boxer was always the strongest and biggest of the kittens. He bonded more closely with my then husband and so when we split, Boxer, Spooky & Smudge stayed with my ex while Boxer's twin, Gypsy, and Boots, the original kitty, went with me. I was separated from Boxer and the others for four years but recently received a call from the ex saying they were all headed for the shelter "unless I wanted them back"... I was horrified at the conditions I learned they had been living in and told him to send them all to me. However, the stress of the move both across country and to meet new animals and people, apparently was too much for Boxer. He had been allowed to become overweight while living with the ex, and had been confined to a small kitchen with all the others for many years and was unable to exercise for lack of room. Between the stress of the move and adjusting to the new environment he developed a respiratory infection which caused his appetite to suffer. We treated the respiratory, but his appetite did not return and he has now been diagnosed with Hepatic Lipodosis - FLS (Fatty Liver Syndrome). I am now struggling to save his life for the third time by force feeding him several times a day. I need this little guy well so send good healing energy our way please!*** update **** Boxer is FULLY RECOVERED from his fatty liver (Hepatic Lipodosis). It took six weeks of aggressive feeding but he has recovered. He is doing great and if any other kitties need some encouragement about this disease please you can do this! FEEDING IS THE CURE! We have pulled through and are doing great!
