Orange & White Tabby

I love to eat, drink, and sleep. Feeding time is my fave! I love to eat! And when mom or dad put down fresh water to where I can dunk my head in is pretty nice too!

WARNING: Roll me over-get a claw in your lip. I don't like to be groomed either, but it must be done due to my poor hygeine! I am getting better at the whole bath thing and nailtrim thing too!

Favorite Toy:
Dante's tail, Emma's leash-if I am feeling friskey! I like to chase mice in my sleep, if that counts!

Favorite Nap Spot:
I prefer to nap on laps, or anywhere that is quite and there is not a lot of traffic. I like to stay hidden and love my privacy!

Favorite Food:
Well, it was Friskes anything canned, but I have a kidney problem, so mom switched me to Science Diet Prescription k/d canned. It is pretty good I guess.

Sleeping, eating, and drinking. I also like to sing to dad in the middle of the day when he is working online. I am now mastering jumping on the couch!

Arrival Story:
As is usually goes, my husband and I went to the Humane Society 'just to look around" (as you can see from our family we have quite the family to begin with). Nine of our cases have been rescues, two of which are epileptic, thus we have attempted to take time to locate and adopt animals which others may not have had the time nor the patience to care for and house. Winston is a Persian who was found partially shaven (with countless molded mats throughout what hair he did have), dyed (you can see the orange coloration on his left front paw), and had extensive neurological damage due to head injuries. He was estimated to have been a product of a kitten farm and, at four years, was well under his desired weight at a little over four pounds. He did not possess the muscle coordination to eat and was struggling to drink. He had also contracted upper respiratory illness which would later be the cause of another feline's demise in the shelter where he was housed at the time. We placed him in isolation due to his contagious state and hand fed him three times a day while awaiting for his antibiotics to take affect. After recovering from his respiratory infection, we introduced him into the household. To date, he has almost doubled his weight and is able to eat by himself, dry as well as wet food. His manual dexterity has improved to the degree where he can sprint through the house, attempting to play with the other felines, but is still unable to jump. He has befriended the other long-haired feline in the household, a Maine Coon, and the two have since been inseparable.

Winston is now attempting to climb on the couch, and did succeed once. The strength in his back legs seems to be growing with each day, but will never be like a normal cat that is able to spring from the floor to the ceiling. But he is content and very happy and incredibly loved! He still has trouble cleaning himself properly, so we give him a bath every week and clean his face and paws every day. Plus he hates to be brushed! But it is an neccessary evil with his coat, and he is tolorating it much better now!
