Arrival Story:
I was living in an area where a lot of new houses were being built, with lots of farmland surrounding us. This kitty went from house to house getting as much attention as he could, but was obvious he had no home and no one claimed him. He was a master hunter and could go out in the field and catch mice all day long. I would see him going into the storm drains for shelter. He would leave mice, rabbit, or bird remains on my door-mat in the mornings and would come around to get as much petting as he could. I had a German Shepherd puppy at the time and the kitty loved visiting with her when I had her outside. He would sit and look in our sliding glass doors when we weren't outside and the pup would sit and look at him. Winter came and I put a box with blankets in it in the corner on my porch. I wasn't ready to call him my cat, but didn't want him to be cold. I still worried he would freeze . One morning, I found the box had been damaged and moved, there were scratches on the concrete and even some blood. I can only guess some larger animal came after him in the night, as he had become quite comfortable in his little home in the corner. I didn't see him for a few days and felt certain, something awful had happened to him. One morning he showed up, he had a hugh gash in the side of his head, his eye was swollen and red, he had been hurt, but he was alive. It was a very cold winter, with lots of snow, so I brought him in to clean him up and nurse his wounds. I placed a chair in the corner inside the door with a blanket on it and this is where he stayed. He was so grateful to be inside, he stayed in his chair, except to get down to eat and use the litter box. As he got well, my German Shepherd felt it was her duty to "herd" him right back in his chair when he did get down, even if they were friends, Lilly felt he should stay in his chair. When I found out I would be moving, I didn't want to leave the kitty, but wasn't sure I should take him, as I thought he would miss the freedom of his lifestyle there. I tried to find a neighbor to take him, but no one would. As we were loading the trailer to move, the kitty climbed on the trailer......this did it! I put him in the car, took him to the vet for check-up and shots and considered him mine from that moment on. He was already a member of the family, but I wasn't ready to admit it.

Bio:
Before I decided to officially adopt this kitty, I always called him "Kitty". My neighbor called him "Cat". I told my husband I had to name him if I was going to keep him. He said "you've already named him"! You call him Other all the time........the "Other" cat. I did have another cat I had rescued, named Marlo, and didn't realize how much I would say the "Other" cat when I referred to him. So, odd as it is, he will always be my "Other" cat!
