My tiny Chester button,

you spent the night again curled up against my side, using my arm as a pillow. You purred so loudly, you woke me up several times. Thats just one of those million little habits of yours that I adore...

I've spent so much of the last year as your mother nurse, I can hardly remember a time when my playful kitten who decided to live in a halloween pumkin wasn't on some sort of medication.

So when two weeks ago, you were diagnosed again, I was over joyed that you might finally be getting the medicine that would cure all of this string of illness! I day dreamed of you healthy and happy, playing with your brothers and rolling in the sunlight...

But instead I'm watching you get thinner and weaker day by day. I'm sorry to wake you every few hours just to force food and water on you. I'm sorry to pill you twice a day... But when we're so close to being cured, my Chester Lester, let's keep strong and not give in! You keep purring and cuddling, and we'll make it through.

Time for another feeding...

UPDATE: around 6:20 pm, Oct 4, 2006. Chester left us tonight. He was purring and without pain until about 3:30 pm today. He seized three times, the last time just didn't stop. He died with his Mom, Dad, and favorite vet nurse by his side. He spent his last moments purring, even through the valium... We loved you very much and will miss you.
