Arrival Story:
I was baking cookies with my friend, Alfredo. The kitchen got really hot, so I opened the back door. There was this little gray and white fuzzy ball. I let it in. I tried to give him to Alfredo. Alfredo didnt take him. Fog stayed the weekend. During the 2 days, he infested my apt with fleas, had a cold, and goopy eyes. On Monday, I took it to the vet. The vet told me that he was a he and he needed to make sure he didnt have any illnesses. I left the poor thing there. I wasn't sure what to do with this kitten. I know my landlord would not have liked it. Yet as the day progressed, I started to think that this fur ball was mine. When I finally called the vet, I wanted to pick up MY kitten. That was that.. we were linked forever.

I think that I had more trauma over getting Fog fixed, then he had the surgery. I recall paying for the procedure days in advanced. I arragned for the surgery to be done during my days off. I woke that morning and took him to the vet. I was a mess. I was crying and such. As the vet tech took Fog in and eldery lady patted me on the back and said it was for the best. The receptionist giggled and said that he was being neutered.

He was swaddled in a blanket.
I cried as I held him.
Slowly he drifted off to peaceful slumber.
One final gasp, then all quiet.
Tears rolling down my face.
Sleep my dear old man, sleep.

My mom keeps reading about people giving away their pets due to allergies. YIKES! That makes me a scaredy cat. My mom is severely allergic to all of us. Meaning: me, Donya, Nik and Cookie. (Not that darn dog, Hermione. We are still trying to get her out of our house.)

She went to an allergist. At the time we were living in Bakersfield and who couldnt have allergies there. Well, after all the pin pricks, the doc told her the results: she was allergic to cats as wella s most every thing else, and would have to get rid of us all. There where 6 of us then, Nak and Charlie were still with us. My mom stood her ground and asked that NASTY doc if he had kids. He did. She then asked a very pointed question--- "If you were allergic to your children would you give them away?" From what I understand all she got was a blank look and a question, "You are not getting rid of them?" Mom read this guy the riot act. He was not happy at all.

Heehee! My mom has some balls sometimes. I know she loves us. She is forever itching her nose, her eyes are always red (like she is stoned, lol) and she takes pills to help it out. Oh ya, she suffers thru weekly shots to help.

If that aint love then what is?
