My Mom's a Crazy Cat Lady!!

Look what I found in Mom's diary...

It was inevitable that I would start this downward slide. It all started so innocently - in 1996, with the rescue of a teeny, tiny, mewling little kitten, who became Sid Vicious..

that coupled, with my tiny kernal of of cuddling maternal instinct, and complete lack of interest in conventional parenthood - made it inevitable that I would fuss and dote on this adorable little ball of biting, scratching, indignant, fiesty feline.

Inevitably.. over the years, as Sid settled down (and I didn’t).. He became my constant, closest confidant and friend. As a portable playmate, who followed me where ever I dared to travel. Other friends, companions, family and loves lost over the years as my adventures criss-crossed the nation. Thru first apartment after college - one short failed marriage - divorcedom - dating - college - moving - casinos - shiftwork - moving, moving, moving, - more college - inevitably, Sid was there (how much choice did he have), when all others left in the fray.

Finally - Sid so lonely, very lonely, and inevitably - another drastic step towards my fate - called Tommy. Tommy Softbits. Another mewling bit of fur and frenzy brought in our lives.

Inevitably, drawn closer - starting to know the names of all the neighborhood cats (nine, all told) that I encounter on my daily walk to work.. Now patiently waiting on the sidewalk for me every morning. No food enticements needed - by now, they’ve seen the signs as well..

Now - today - the final step - as I saddle up Tommy, and off we set for a jaunt around the neighborhood.. It can’t be much longer, inevitably, until cat stollers, cat snuggers start becoming appealing and worthwhile purchases.. Clothes, capes and crowns for my feline friends..

I’ve become the crazy cat lady.

I am totally voting for Ellis - Sid is not the boss of me.. (Okay, maybe he is - because he's bigger, older.). But I am still voting for Ellis.. And you better too - or I am eating your softbits!

While I can be a bit bitey kitty (even though I am quite small) I am also soft and devious..
I lure unsuspecting humans, because I am angora soft, and deceptively sweet/ angelic looking.. I have the softest, quiet little meow - and loud squeeky purr..
My parents suspect that I fancy myself as a puppy since my former owners had several dogs as well, and I don't mind the fleabag animals.

I am also quite indelicate in my chow habits - more like Beethoven the dog than a sweet little kitty. I also literally nip at the calves of my owners if I don't get the attention I seek.
