Arrival Story:
My husband wanted a cat, so we went to the animal shelter in Fairbanks, AK. We were looking at the biggest cat we had ever seen and talking to one of the employees about him. My husband was kneeling down and looking in his cage, when this little black paw reached out and touched his knee. He looked at the owner of the paw and saw the most pathetic site he had ever seen. Inside the cage, was a black long-haired cat. It had scabs all over its ears, scabs and holes on his paw pads, and the fur was falling off his neck by the handful. We thought he was sick, but the lady told us he had been out in the snow and was frostbitten. Because he looked so bad, nobody would adopt him and he was scheduled to be euthanized at the end of the week. We took him home with the stipulation that he had to pass a check-up. Our vet confirmed that, although he was 4-6 pounds under weight, he was a healthy boy. After a few weeks, his badly frostbitten ears fell off. His scabs cleared up and all of his fur grew back. He has gone from 8 pounds to a huge 19.4 pounds!

Bio:
Frostbite is a great cat. He is very social, especially with men. He is my husband's baby, and rarely wants anything to do with me. He loves our dogs, but regularly fights with our other cat.

My Sister, Tigger, Has Gone To The Rainbow Bridge

After 18 years of being Mom's sweet companion, Tigger has gone to the rainbow bridge.

Her kidneys have been failing for quite some time and the vet said months ago that it was just a matter of time. Over the past few weeks, she had gotten painfully skinny and was having bouts of vomitting and would sway back and forth when she sat upright.

The whole family had made a point of saying their goodbyes over the past week and we had thought we would have to make her decision for her.

This morning, we gave her a bowl of water and left for work and school. When we came home this evening, she wouldn't come out when she was called. After looking all over the house in her favorite nap spots, Mom found her "asleep" under her bed. She looked so peaceful and beautiful.

Our hearts are broken and there is a huge hole that time will never fill. The only thing that makes it any easier is knowing that she is in a better place and that we'll see her again someday.
