Sad news to report. Flip, my feline frenemie, passed away. Turns out she had heart cancer, something she hid from us and something the vets couldn't figure out until it was too late. Misdiagnosed with renal failure. By then, it was too late to treat anyway...But Flip was a champ until the end.
My cousin Katy is mourning the most. Flip was her steady companion, playing and sleeping with her, even sharing a meal or two with her. Every time Flip came home from the vet, Katy would check her out to make sure she was okay. We're not sure Katy knows that she's a dog and Flip was a cat...but their relationship was one to enjoy.
When we received Flip's cremated remains, we discovered that the cremation certificate read, "Pet of Katy." How true, indeed!
I had a fantastic summer. So many trips to the beach! My friends and I spent hours running after our balls and Frisbees, and swimming as much as we could. My cousin Katy did a great job guarding me as I swam after my ball, making sure I made it back every time.
Summer has come to an end, but my trips to the beach haven't! The weather in Southern California means beach trips are neverending, whew! The water gets much colder, but I can handle it. Anything for the love of my ball...
I just celebrated my 4th birthday! And whaddya know, my mom brought home NEW TOYS! I shared them with Katy, of course. My aunt brought home a giant rubber chicken. It's totally lifesize. Flattened out, with a squeaker in, of all places, its tush. I think I like the soft, furry toys better, though...
So life at four has not slowed me down a bit. Have I officially left "puppyhood"? I beg to differ. Alright, so I like naptime in the middle of the day, but I'm still all about working the field and catching ball after ball...after ball... Someone told my mom I'd slow down after two, but not me!
