Arrival Story:
Sadie was rescued from the Santa Clara Valley Humane Society. One of the volunteers opened the cage door so I could have a better look at her, and Sadie took her sweet time waking up, uncurling from a ball, stretching and sauntering out of the cage. She then climbed up my shoulder and flopped into my arms purring madly. That pretty well sealed the deal.

Forums Motto:
Hey, is that a brush?

Goodbye, friends. Sadie went to the Rainbow Bridge today and will meet you all there to play. She had a good life and, when the time came, a good death. I loved her very much and she loved me right back. I will always remember my Sadie Baby.

Hi everbody,

I had a great week and wanted to send purrs and greetings to everyone out there. I'm feeling sooo much better now and am totally in love with the new treats I get every day (salmon-flavored Pill Pockets). In fact, I want a whole bunch of them right now! Meow!

Purrs,
Sadie

Scary Near-Death Experience!

I just had a wild and scary week, healthwise, but it all seems to have turned out well in the end.

On Wednesday my human came home in the evening and I was fussing and crying for attention but she didn't know why. A little while later I was really crying and my human found me lying on the floor, having seizures and unable to use my hind legs. She scooped me up and rushed me to the veterinary hospital in really bad shape.

The nice people at the veterinary hospital put me in intensive care and saved my life. It turns out I had dangerously high blood pressure because of my kidney problems, and this caused a stroke and the seizures. My human had no idea! I was blind for two days because the high blood pressure partially detached my retinas when I had the stroke. The vet hospital brought my blood pressure down with medicine (Norvasc) and my health improved dramatically. After two days at the vet, I was able to come home, and several hours after I came home, my retinas reattached themselves and my vision returned! Yay!

I'd like to thank everyone at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists in San Leandro, California for taking such good care of me. And for all you other cats out there with kidney problems, it's a good idea to ask your vet to check your blood pressure so they can give you medication to bring high blood pressure down before things get serious! I think I lost five of my remaining lives this week.

Purrs,
Sadie
