Heaven in the form of a cat treat

Meow Meow!

I am so happy! All my life, Mommy thought I didn't like cat treats. Boy was she wrong! The first hint that I actually adored some kinds of cat treats came when Lucky Boo's friend Simba sent him a pawkage... it was some Tabby Take-out! In his pawkage there was a little sample of something called Wildside Salmon treats... Mommy saw me jump on the desk and paw at the little baggie these freeze-dried yummies were in. Then I proceeded to chew on the baggie! So she opened it up and gave me one of the treats, expecting me to snub it, as I do with all treats. I sure did surprise her when I chewed that treat up and swallowed it!

Well that bag of sample treats is long gone, but I just couldn't get that taste, that fresh freeze-dried aroma, out of my little mind. Mommy says I have a one-track mind. All I can think about is freeze-dried yummies! I have been jumping on the desk where the baggie used to be, looking at Mommy, and giving her the saddest little kitty face you ever did see. Finally, my pouting started to take effect. Mommy felt really sorry for me and didn't want to deprive me of my freeze-dried-treat-eating-kitty-joy. So she went on a quest to find me some yummies. First she went to a pet store and bought a tube of freeze-dried stuff. She thought it looked kind of gross, and kind of old, but she decided to let me tell her whether or not I liked it. She was right; I didn't like it. I wouldn't even sniff it! Yuck!

Then, yesterday, Mommy came home grumbling about how much she had just spent on a container of treats and that I sure better like them. She'd gone to Kroger and purchased the treats she said she would NEVER buy. She had bought the Halo Liv-a-Littles freeze-dried chicken treats. 1.5 ounces for 9.99. All for me! She said they were similar in texture to the Wildside Salmon treats and she hoped that I'd like them.

She opened the container. I edged nearer to her. She broke the protective seal. I jumped on her lap. She picked up a treat. I stuck my head in the box. She told me "NO!" I took my head out of the box. I sniffed the treat. Could it be? I took a little nibble and experienced heaven in the form of a kitty treat. My ecstasy was apparent as I purred and purred and purred and headbutted and headbutted and headbutted. I was one happy boy.

I still am one happy boy. Mommy has been generous with the expensive treats, and she told me today that she has ordered some Wildside Salmon treats from on-line because she found a pretty good deal on them at a new website she'd never seen before! I am so thrilled. I don't know if I like the Liv-a-Littles or the Wildside Salmon better. I am inclined to think they are both equally celestial in nature.

I wanted to share this story with you, friends, because if any of you is a treat-snubbing kitty, you may want to have your Mommy or Daddy buy you some freeze-dried treats. They may open up a whole new world of tasty pleasures for you, as they have for me. Mommy thought she had tried every kind of treat known to cat with me, but she was wrong. Thanks to Simba, I now am able to enjoy that which other cats take for granted: the ability to enjoy a good cat treat. I'd snubbed Pounce Moist, Pounce Crunchy, Whisker Lickins, Greenies, Aquariyums, and many other varieties and brands of cat treats. Mommy said I'd never love treats. Never say never.

Tape recorder? What's that?

Purrs!

Mommy FINALLY put my Finalist picture up on my Catster page! It's the second picture on my main page--do you like it? Mommy does! (although she said no more climbing in trees for me--that day, I escaped into the Great Outdoors and ran straight for the tree! Mommy just HAD to take a few pictures while coaxing me to come down)

Yesterday, Mommy was studying for her Economics test. She pulled this silver box out of her backpack, and she sat it on the floor next to her. She pressed a button on it, and all of a sudden it came to life! Well, not really. It didn't move, but it started TALKING! I heard a man's voice talking about aggregate supply and aggregate demand (what's that) and even talking about the economic policy blunders made by past Presidents!

Well, I didn't know what that thing was that was talking to Mommy, so I attacked it! I knocked it all around the room. It was fun. I was trying to make it stop talking, but I just couldn't! Mommy got a good laugh then took it away from me and pressed another button. Then the man stopped talking.

Mommy said it was a tape recorder, and she was trying to listen to the class that she had recorded to help her study for her Economics test! So maybe next time she tries to listen to it, I will leave it alone. Even though I sort of cut Mom's study-time short by playing with the tape recorder, she still made an A on her test! Go Mommy!

Woo-Hoo! I am so happy! I never won anything before in my life! Well, I still haven't won anything, but I found out I really am a Finalist in the World's Coolest Cat & Dog Show! Yay! Yipee! Yahoo! My picture in the Daredevil category was the one that got picked to go on to the Final round. I'm not sure if it's in my Photobook or not... if it isn't, I'll have to add it asap! The picture is Mom's favorite picture of me--I'm in a tree! Sideways!

Catgratulations to all the cats who entered the contest and to all the other Finalists! This is one of the happiest days of my life!

Thanks to the kitties who sent me Rosettes and Catgratulations pmails! I wish I had some extra rosettes to hand out--but Lucky Boo used ours all up.

Aaah!! Mommy just found my precious whisker, no longer attached to my precious face!! I guess it must've just fallen out all by itself, kind of like a baby tooth.

I wonder if there is a Whisker Fairy who will put some catnip toys under my pillow tonight.......

Soft Paws on my Feetsies

Mommy got this crazy idea yesterday. She decided to put boots on my claws! Little rubber boots are on 9 of my 10 front claws. I chewed one of them off, and she replaced it, but then I chewed the new one off too (and ate it, heehee) so she gave up! So I sort of won!

I don't mind having these little soft paws on my feetsies. They keep me from accidentally scratching Mommy and the couch.

We are already going back home again. I just got here Wednesday, but today is Friday and that means it's time to go to Grandmaw and Grandpaw's! I can't wait to show them my cute little claws with the black and white Soft Paws covering them! I feel like a new kitty with my new pedicure!!

The B-A-T-H

That's right. It's a nasty 4 letter word, so I won't say it. I'll just spell it for you. B-A-T-H. Water. Soap. Lather. Torture.

I had my first "one I do not speak of" yesterday. I was purring and cuddling with Mommy, when she saw a black speck on my fur. Then the black speck moved. Darn, I was BUSTED. I had an F-word. That's right, it starts with F and ends with A. You got it--a F-L-E-A. Since that's another dirty little 4 letter word, I won't say it either.

So the next thing I knew, Mommy had gotten up and turned on the faucet in the bathtub. I thought she was just preparing for her daily torture routine of standing in a box with water pouring on her, but I was wrong. I should have known something was up. When Mommy gives herself a B-A-T-H, the W-A-T-E-R comes from the top faucet, way up high. This time, it was coming from the lower faucet, and the bathtub was quickly filling up with water! I thought there was a clog in the drain, but what I did not realize was that Mommy was intentionally filling up the tub with W-A-T-E-R.

She proceeded to grab some shampoo with a picture of a cat on the front of the bottle. I didn't get this because I know kitties hate B-A-T-H-S, and I'd never seen a kitty actually have to get one. So I just figured it was a shampoo for humans who love cats! Boy was I wrong!

The next thing that happened was that Mommy picked me up and put me INTO the bathtub full of W-A-T-E-R! She got in there with me, so I wouldn't be too scared. I suppose that helped a little with my anxiety level. But then she almost completely submerged my little body into the W-A-T-E-R. Next, she opened up the shampoo, and poured it all over me! So I now know the reason there is a picture of a cat on the bottle: this is TORTURE shampoo for Cats! How horrific! How terrible!

After rubbing that shampoo into my already-clean (in my humble opinion) fur. I saw three of four of those little moving black specks, but they stopped moving! Good! They are itchy and the less they move, the better! Finally, after what seemed like days, Mommy said she was done "lathering" up the shampoo in my fur. But then she started pouring W-A-T-E-R all over me again! She said it was to rinse out the soap, but I'd rather keep the soap in my fur than get rinsed off! Unfortunately, it wasn't up to me.

After what seemed like weeks of being "rinsed" with W-A-T-E-R, came the sweetest words I've ever heard in my life: WE'RE FINISHED!! YAY!! No More W-A-T-E-R, S-O-A-P, F-L-E-A-S, or B-A-T-H-S (I HOPE)!!

When Mommy took me out of the horrid torture tub, She wrapped me up tightly into not one but two towels! I was "snug as a bug in a rug!!" Mommy then cradled me like a baby (I am her baby, you know) until she was satisfied that I was dry enough. Then she let me go and I darted under the coffee table! I wasn't going to let Mommy anywhere near me after that fiasco! Well, for five whole minutes I successfully avoided Mommy. But shen she said, "Here, Sindri, Please don't be mad at me. You needed a bath to get rid of the F-L-E-A-S." My little heart melted and I ran up to Mommy and let her brush my fur. Then I groomed myself for a few hours until I was satisfied that I'd cleaned off all the shampoo that Mommy missed when she was rinsing me.

I guess being bathed wasn't so bad. I don't itch anymore! Those F-L-E-A-S are G-O-N-E!!

So my advice to you is this: if you are itchy, dirty, or smelly, let your Mommy give you a B-A-T-H. It's no fun, but it's well worth it to feel so clean!!

Purrs,
Sindri

PS My contest is still going on, and I ask for your daily vote. I'm not going to win because that pesky wabbit is over 600 votes ahead of me. But I am still holding on to second place, which unfortunately comes with absolutely no recognition! Mommy says that if we enter any more contests, they will be the kind that are judged by actual professionals. Not based on the highest number of votes accrued in a month. It's too easy for people to cheat when the highest quantity of votes wins!

Please Vote for Me

I like campaigning! It's fun! I get to ask people to *Vote for SinSin*!!

Please do vote for me, Sinsin, The Sindercatman, Monstercat, Cinnamon Sin every day if you can!!

I want to win this contest for my birthday, but that awful dreadful rabbit is now in first place and I'm in second place!! You can vote once every 24 hours, so please do!!

I'm getting to know my new Cat statue, and I've decided it can stay! I was afraid of it at first, but now I know it's very special to my Mommy because Great Grandmaw Dot gave it to her!! Great Grandmaw Dot is needing your purrayers please, because she has an awful rash on her foot and the doctors don't know what it is!! Her foot is red and swollen, but it doesn't hurt, but it does itch! Great Grandmaw Dot is 84 years old so it's harder for her to get around with this bad foot!! Great Grandpaw is taking good care of her though. He's taking her to the doctor's office on Friday to see if the antibiotics and cream are helping her foot! Please pray that the medicine does help! Mommy and Grandmaw are worried! They didn't realize how bad the foot was until they saw it this past weekend. I've never met my great grandparents but usually they come to Georgia once a year (they haven't been in 2 years though because of health issues). I hope they can come this year! They have talked about coming for Thanksgiving, and that would definitely give me something to give thanks for!

MOMMY'S HOME!!!

August 6th 2006 10:37 pm

I am one HAPPY kitty right now. My Mommy is home!!!!!!!!! She got home two hours ago, and I've been too busy cuddling with her and purring to her to even have a chance to write in my diary!! I am SOOOOO happy she is back!! I just can't seem to stop purring!

I'm also still in first place in my contest!!!! Yay I'm so glad that silly wabbit hasn't caught up to me!! I'm only winning over it by 20 votes though, so please to all of my wonderful friends, keep voting for me!!!! I want to win this so badly for my birthday present! Speaking of birthdays, mine is in just under two weeks! I've never had a birthday before and I'm getting very excited. I understand now that birthdays mean presents! I can't wait to see what Mommy will get me!

I met my new cat tonight when Mommy got home. I was terrified of it at first, but then I remembered that it isn't alive. It's a statue. So I rubbed up against it and now the new cat statue and I are friends!!

Mommy's been doing a lot of talking about moving to Florida. It seems that ever since she was a little girl, she's wanted to live there to be closer to her relatives! And now I know that Grandmaw and Grandpaw are willing to move back there too! Since they are from Florida, they also want to live there again. Even though they've lived in Georgia for well over 20 years, they still miss Florida. Well, they miss everything except the traffic! Mommy will be moving to Florida hopefully soon after she graduates from college next May. But of course, it will depend on whether or not Mommy can find a job there!

Mommy found out her favorite cousin Karey (well all her cousins are her favorites but especially Karey) is getting married! Catgratulations to Karey and Chris!!!! Mom's very excited and hopes they decide to have a big wedding so she will be able to go to go to it! They haven't picked out a date yet though. I also hear that Karey may be visiting my Catster page! Oh I hope she does! I wish I could meet her. Mommy speaks very highly of her.

Please continue to vote for me, the Clothes Wearing Cat at
http://www.petboro.com/petvote.aspx?id=1370
Vote for all the other catster kitties too if you like. I have been voting for them all. Even the one who says she's the rightful winner because she voted for Griz every day. I voted for Griz every day too and so did many, many, many other kitties! And my brother Sir Thomas found the software 3 day trial that helped the most with Grizabella's 300 vote deficit! I hope Cinderella won't be mad at me if I win. I'll be happy with whichever one of us that wins. I just don't want the rabbit to win! I do think it would be extra special for me if I were to win this month's contest since it's my birth month. But oh well.

Purrs to you all, and purrs to Karey if she happens to read this entry,
Sindri

A New Cat?

August 6th 2006 9:24 am

I hope so. I love kitties and I want a new brother or sister! Great-Grandmaw is giving one to Mommy! I heard so on the phone when Mommy was talking to Grandpaw!

This cat is always laying down, according to Grandpa. And it's purple and green with flowers all over it! Sounds like one cool cat to me. I can't wait to play with him or her!

Wait a second..... green and purple with flowers on it? Maybe this isn't a real cat. Maybe it's a cat statue!! Oh, how silly I feel thinking that I was getting a real cat!

I understand now. Mommy was always talking about how much she likes Great-Grandmaw Dot's two cat statues. Great-Grandmaw Dot is 84 years old and she is downsizing. She gave Mommy a real gold ring last time Mommy went to visit her, and she gave Grandmaw a beautiful diamond ring! Those rings didn't fit anymore, and Great-Grandmaw Dot wanted to give them away. The one she gave Mommy has a huge amethyst stone set in it, which is Mommy's birthstone! How thoughtful of Great-Grandmaw Dot!!

Mommy used to always play with the cat statues when she was a little girl, from the time she was 3 until she was 12! Now that she's 23, she doesn't play with them anymore, but every time she looks at them she remembers how much fun she had visiting her Papa and Dot every time she would come to Florida to visit them! She remembers she used to always be too little to play with her nine cousins because they were all at least 2 years older than her, so while they were off playing Risk, or Monopoly, Mommy would watch them play while she played with the cats!

Today, Great-Grandmaw Dot told Mommy to pick out whichever of the two cats that she wants! So Mommy picked the green and purple one with flowers. The other one is white and blue, and it will go to someone else, probably Mommy's cousin Kristen who also used to play with the cats. But she lived next door to Great-Grandmaw and Great-Grandpaw until she was 20 years old, how lucky is that?? She could see them any time she wanted to! Mommy only gets to see them 3 or 4 times a year. But Mommy and Grandmaw feel fortunate that they only live 5-6 hours away!

Well I am going to rest up because Mommy is coming home tonight!! She'll get home around midnight and I can't wait to see her and the new cat statue!

Macular Degeneration?

August 1st 2006 5:31 pm

Evening, friends! My poor old Grandpaw went to the eye doctor today. They had bad news for him. He has the beginnings of macular degeneration and he has cataracts too!! Poor Grandpaw!! The good news is that the doctor told him the name of some vitamins (Ocuvite) that can help his eyes from deteriorating any more than they already have.

I have started being even more friendly than ever before with my Mommy. She seems tense, and I think it has something to do with that d-word she keeps saying. She has to go tomorrow and the d-word is going to drill on her teethies! Last night, Mommy couldn't sleep so I cuddled up right next to her, then I lay right on top of her for the longest time. I stayed put until Luna knocked over a huge glass of water and Mommy had to get out of bed to clean it up.

Mommy's getting ready for her big day at the d-word's office tomorrow. She has her iPod all charged up and ready with a playlist of her favorite, most soothing Bjork songs. I hope she turns up the volume so loud that she doesn't even hear the drill! She's also got her pills ready and Grandpaw's going to drive her to and from the dentist so she doesn't crash her car while she's under the influence of her pills. Although with that macular degeneration stuff, I don't know if Grandpaw should be driving either........ but he has 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/25 in the other, so I guess Mom will be OK riding with him (as long as she wears her seat belt, hehehe).

I'm entered into a contest this month, and I hope you'll vote for me!! This is the link: to get to the contest and then scroll down to my picture (so you can see the picture of me and all the other pictures too), go to this link
http://www.petboro.com/petcontest.aspx
Or, to just vote for me without going through the contest page, go to this link:
http://www.petboro.com/petvote.aspx?id=1370

It's come to my attention that some other cool Catster cats, Mr. Silk and Albie, are entered into the same contest. But they're also entered into another one using the same picture, so I've decided to vote for them at the other contest, since I'm only in this one contest at petboro.com. Here is the link to vote for Mr. Silk and Albie at their other contest:
http://www.insidelongmont.com
Click on Photo Contests, and scroll down to the picture of the two cats called "Best Friends." They do look like best friends, don't they? I've been asking my pals at BOCU to vote for me for a while now, and I hope they will vote for me at Petboro and Mr. Silk and Albie at InsideLongmont. But if Albie and Mr. Silk win both their contests that'd be OK too. I just really have high hopes for this one.

Please *VOTE SINDRI*!! Oh I really hope the Clothes-Wearin' Cat wins this contest!! (that's me, by the way, the Clothes-Wearing Cat)

Happy & Hopeful Purrs,
Sindri
