Arrival Story:
She lived behind the grocery store with several other cats. I soon figured out they were feral and that there were no groups that accepted or fostered feral kitties. I began feeding them and later found an organization, Operation Catnip, who's sole purpose is to promote using TNR (trap, neuter, release) of feral cats and provide low cost spay/neuter services for them. Over the next several years some kitties left or died, several more showed up. Blackie and Blue were there from the beginning, another kitty, Alice, we trapped and brought home to try and tame. Pudgie showed up many months later, a juvenile, also feral and no clue where he came from. They were the grocery store cats.

Bio:
Blackie was so wild I had to use a walking stick to keep her from striking me when I put food down for her. It took seven attempts before finally trapping her, this was two litters too late. The first litter came home with me to be tamed and are now five years old and still live with us, they are "the Ramones". The vet who spayed Blackie said she was the meanest feral she'd ever seen, and that she is FIV+. That was over four years ago, over two years ago we built an outdoor enclosure in our back yard for the three grocery cats and they settled in amazingly. It took two years and two months before Blackie let me touch her, she is still very independent but she loves being brushed, stroked and scratched around her head. She lets me hold her, and sometimes even likes a good belly rub. Only recently she began purring out loud and meowed!
