Yesterday we took little Diamond to the vet for the last time. She still managed to get a few growls and swipes in, so as usual she had to be sedated. Feisty until the end...

We had to once again make that awful decision to let a furbaby go. She was diagnosed with lymphoma and she was probably in a very advanced stage.

Sometimes you do something for so long that it becomes an unconscious routine. I opened my eyes today and said good morning .... no little pink nose in my face, no meow meow meow. I slowly sat up and thought how do I begin my days without her purring and meowing and nagging at me?

We're still lucky that we have Ashley left. She's not herself right now either. They weren't a snuggly pair with each other but over the years they definitely learned to work as a team to mooch treats or pin us down on a couch if they weren't feeling loved quite enough. I hope Ash adjusts to being an only child.

Diamond, my little old lady, I miss you.

bird watching

I haven't been enjoying the summer as much as I normally would. I do miss the mom being home all day. She would keep the windows and doors open so I could see and hear the birds. But she says she refuses to leave the door open while she's away at work. I wouldn't let anyone in! Still, she says no. I hate when she says no.

To appease me, my Darling Daddoo installed a pole with a large birdfeeder right outside the window. Then my cat tree was moved directly in front of said window. How splendid! I cannot believe the birdshow I am treated to now. Wrens, chickadees, grackles, cardinals, blue jays, finches and doves all grace our yard now. All this birdwatching makes for a tired princess. *yawn* Time to catnap.

The wedding!

I should have written about this last weekend but I was in such a state, I was at a loss for meows. Last weekend two of my favorite Catsters, Princess Pooter and King Rascal, were married. Oh what a ceremony! What a magnificat couple! I cannot believe I had the priviledge of being maid of honor for them. So many of our furriends were there and evfurrycat looked stunning! And then, somewhere in the romance of it all, my Cinni asked me to marry him! I almost wondered if it was a dream! He's so purrfect. He looked divine in his tux, not that he needs any adornment as he's a FINE looking tomcat. He's the ultimate detective - he could outSherlock Holmes with 3 paws tied behind his back. He's a fine dancer, so light on his persimmon tipped paws, it's like swirling through clouds with him. I think I shall take a long catnap and dream of chasing bunnies through catnip fields with my Prince Charming!

It seems I have been tagged by Tweak, Cinni, and Ziggy:

The rules: Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write on their own blog about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

!. Fact number one is that I am an excellent mouser.

2. Fact number two, I live for sitting on my cat tree.

3. Fact number three I fear no dog, no matter the size.

4. Fact number four I sit in front of the mini heater until I need to be basted.

5. Fact number five I have more energy than most kittens.

6. Fact number six I am missing my top fangs.

7. Fact number seven I snore almost as loud as Daddoo.

Now I tag these 7 cats:

They found a lump on my side. We all know what that means, a trip to the v-e-t. Mew! This time Mom got smart and asked about a kitty downer for me. The v-e-t agreed that this would be a good idea since, while I am quite a darling at home, I am pure evil on the exam table.

Daddoo drugged me early this morning, just a 1/4 of a happy pill. About 15 minutes before it was time to leave I was wobbly. Weeee. But I just kept on going. I wanted to play. I was feeling great!

I copped a bit of cattitude at the v-e-t, and while I tried, no one bled today. Normally my Beloved Daddoo leaves with several open wounds mew ha ha. But the news was great. It's just a little cyst and nothing to worry about.

When we got back home, I was hungry. Very hungry. Daddoo gave me half a can of my favorite grilled turkey food, I ate a few nibbles of dry food, then more, then more. I mooched some cheese from Daddoo. I even poked my head in the trash looking for something, and I *never* poke my head in the trash!

I've been alternating between playing and eating. The parents even got a picture of me carrying my "baby" around, something they haven't been able to do for years! Mom keeps saying that I'm really cute on this pill. Of course I'm cute. I'm the Princess - or as mom says today, Princess Bake-O.

I want to say thank you to all my Catster friends for rallying around me. All your purrs and love made me feel so brave today! Purrs and four paws up to all of you.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've had a diary update. I think it's time to change that now! Life is treating me fairly well. We had a houseguest for a few weeks. It took awhile but I eventually chased him away. Nothing makes a princess feel more powerful than having a human afraid of you, mew ha ha!

I was delighted and basking in sun and warmth just a few days ago. I spent my time watching the birds and a big squirrel eating seeds that Mom and Daddoo put outside for them. It's cheap entertainment for me and it beats counting sheep to fall asleep. Unfortunately all that has changed. There is snow. Snow. Snow!!! Ev-furry kitty keeps wishing me happy Easter, but how can it be Easter with snow? Has the Easter Bunny become the Easter Snowbunny? Mew! I want my hot summer days where I can bask like a lizard on a rock to warm my chilled bones. For now my trusty heater vent will have to do.

V - Day and not the good kind either!

I knew it. I just knew it. They didn't think I was paying attention but I overheard them say that evil three letter word, v-e-t.

But you know, I've noticed this new vet (pardon my cussing) really isn't so bad. Oh sure, last year I showed them all who is in charge - Daddy left with two band aides on that time. But this time I let Daddoo take the carrier apart around me without getting too mean. I even let him pet me while we were waiting for Dr. R to come into the room. I growled while he listened to my heart but I didn't swing at him. Everyone seemed surprised.

He left the room and I thought it was over. Then he came back and put a towel over me. Just when I was wondering what this was all about, I felt a stick in my butt. How rude! I let him know just what I thought about it by letting out a good loud howl. But then Daddoo began putting the carrier together around me again and they put Ash up on the table.

I do have chronic sinus problems. I've been like that for years now. So I will continue to sneeze on my humans every night before we go to sleep. The Dr. said my heart is strong and my lungs are clear. Not bad for an old lady huh?

At least I got some canned food when we got home. So now I must sleep for a bit.

What a whirlwind it's been around here. It's kept my pretty fuzzy head spinning. I guess I should begin with the holidays. Catmas Eve was kind of fun. The place was filled with humans. I enjoyed some, after all I did get nice presents! The downside was that there were short humans here too. I've never been a fan of those kind. Luckily the smallest of the bunch has learned. He points to me and says Diamond is Evil. Maybe the little bugger isn't so bad after all.

Catmas Day was nice. Mom and Daddoo were gone most of the day so I napped and played with my new catnip toys. When they finally did get home, I had many new things to sniff at, walk on and leave my most beautiful fur on. I especially like the new socks Mom brought home. I'm sure Grandma meant to give them to me but since I wasn't there, she gave them to Mom to transport. How thoughtful of them both!

New Year's Eve was quiet like usual. We all stayed in and cuddled up. That's the only thing I do like about the winter months, extra cuddle time. The following day the parents had a party to attend so I once again had a quiet day.

And then they got sick. Mom kept coughing up hairball after hairball. I didn't know what to do. Several times I tried to help her by sticking my head under hers. This only seemed to make her frustrated. Mew! She should try being a cat and try communicating with humans some time. That is frustrating! I nurtured her for several days and begged her to eat. All my sis did was sit on her and ask for food. I don't think she realized how sick poor Mom was. Even worse, my Daddoo was feeling it too. At one point I didn't know who to bless with my healing sneezes, so I took turns sneezing on them. Eventually my efforts paid off and now everyone is doing just fine. Thank Bast for that.

But now...I do worry. I've heard whispers. Ashley is already teasing me. They say it's that time of the year again. I really hope they aren't meowing about what I think they are meowing about. I will have to keep my green eyes open and stay very alert.

Feeling Frisky

I can't believe how quickly time is going. I guess between all the holiday fuss, the tree to sit under and my oh so sweet Gentleman Prince, Cinni, life is really good. I impressed even my great Daddoo earlier. I jumped from the floor to the top level of my kitty tree. That might not seem like a big deal, but I'm no spring chicken. It's amazing what love does!

I like the tree

Mom is really on the ball this year. The tree is up complete with presents under it for me to unwrap. They aren't mine but I like untying the ribbons and bows. I keep getting yelled at but do I care? Nope.

I just love sitting under the tree. The skirt is soft and velvety and the lights are nice and warm on my little tush. I got scolded a bit several days in a row because I keep pulling a strand of candy garland out a bit so I can bat it.

If you look really close at the video with the tree you can also see that I decorated too. There's a fuzzy yellow ball with pink and green dangling legs - that's my baby. But since everyone else seemed to be in holiday spirits, I tossed it in the air and added it to the tree decorations. I'm so clever!
