Arrival Story: Nero was picked up from Protectors of Animals the day after I lost my last cat, Nermal, to heart disease.
I was looking after two girls for the weekend, and I asked them to help me look for a kitten. We went to Protectors of Animals, and the girls promptly opened a cage door which housed seven kittens--seven HYPER kittens! They all sprang out, and I picked one up. He purred, even though I cradled him like a baby. He laid back and closed his eyes--I didn't want him because he looked like Nermal who had passed away the day before from congestive heart failure, but you don't choose them... they choose you! He's a total mama's boy, and still loves to be held like a baby and loves it when you bury your face in his belly. =)
Nero was 14 weeks old!
Bio: Since our other kitty Azriel is named after Gargamel's cat from the "Smurfs," we decided to keep with the theme of "evil guy's pets" so we named Nero after Baron Silas Greenback's fuzzy little pet on "Dangermouse," which is one of my personal favorite cartoons.

Alright, four days ago my mom brought home ANOTHER CAT. I do miss Azriel, but I somehow know that she's happier where she is. She wasn't feeling good at all. But a few days after Azriel left, mom and dad brought home a different cat... a little orange cat!
I don't want another friend--I was really happy bothering mom and dad 24/7 after Azriel left because I thought they might be lonely and want to play. I tried to distract them as much as I could, but I think they thought I needed a playmate... I don't WANT a playmate!!!
She smells weird. She is little and orange with white paws and a white chin and muzzle. Mom and Dad call her "Biscuit," but I could think of a better name... hmmph! She doesn't seem to like me too much either. The last few days we couldn't even be in the same room with eachother because I would get so angry that I'd scream and throw a tantrum, but Mom and Dad didn't get the hint. Now, they put some stuff in my food which calms me down (and I admit it feels good) and it's easier to sleep and relax. They gave some to Biscuit too because she was getting really rude too.
Today we got pretty close to eachother and we still hissed, but I wasn't as mad as before. I didn't feel like clawing her eyes out like I wanted to on Saturday. I hope they don't bring home any more cats... I'm done sharing my space! I'll drop another update in a few days and let everyone know how it's going here. Purrs and headbutts to all =^..^=
You are my baby boy, no matter how big you get. You were a tiny kitten with huge ears, and now you're a big cat with big ears. You are so sweet--I wouldn't be able to go to sleep without your snuggling me every night. I love how you snuggle so near to my face--your nose to mine. You are the one cat I can hold like a baby and you actually purr--you don't know how good that makes me feel. I'm sorry you are frightened of so many things, and it often makes me wonder how you were treated before you were dropped off at the animal shelter with your siblings. Your eyes look at me sometimes so deeply that they seem to penetrate my soul. We share "kitty blinks," which you always respond to. You put up with Azriel's jealousy of your attention, and when you're playing on your cat tree, you truly make me laugh out loud. I only hope that I can keep you happy and healthy so we can share a long and happy life together with many amazing memories. I didn't even want you when I saw you at the shelter--you looked too much like Nermal. Then when I held you, there was no way I could let you go and you charmed me with those gorgeous eyes and your deep purr. I love you for that. Thanks for putting up with me, and I hope you know I'd do anything for you and your sister Azriel. My little shmero, you're the bestest boy. Thank you for being one of the most tender creatures I've ever met. I love you forever.
