Super Powers Activate!

Friends! Hello!

I know it's been awhile since I've updated my diary. It's my mom's fault (as usual). Things are good with me! Mommy went out of town last weekend and we had a Catster mom as our kitty sitter (Onyx and Mi'ja's Mommy). I flirted shamelessly with her, Leo hid under Mommy's bed, and Charlie alternated between scaredy-cat and not-quite-so-scaredy-cat. The good news is that all was well and Mommy is now home! We all slept with her last night because we were so happy she was home!

In other news, Mommy got to meet Jackson Galaxy two weeks ago at a fund-raising event. She went with other Catster moms and had a great time! Then, she was invited by our kitty sitter to a private party screening of the season finale of My Cat from Hell the following evening with Jackson Galaxy! Lots and lots of fun!

She learned a lot from her Jackson Galaxy weekend. The big thing is that she needs to play with us MORE, especially feisty Charlie. He needs lots and lots of play time! The other big thing she learned was that she needs to stop babying Leo and challenge him a little more. So she's trying to set up some extra play dates to give him a little more socialization opportunity. Newman's mommy has been enlisted to help as has our kitty sitter! Mommy would like Leo to be a little less scared when other people are in our house. Especially because next month the kitty sitter is staying at our house for one night while Mommy is out of town and Mommy is afraid that he will be too scared to eat or use the litterbox :(

Oh, I forgot to tell you! I tried to use my special super powers of getting sick in order to prevent my mommy from traveling! I started limping the week before Mommy went out of town. She took me to the vet and guess what? Some brothercat punctured my paw pad with either a tooth or a claw! Luckily I managed to fight off infection and I am almost all better. Un-luckily, it didn't prevent Mommy from going out of town. But she's back so all is well.

I am working on passing my super powers on to Leo- a couple of days before Mommy left, Leo got a big eye boogie! He's never had one before. Mommy took him to the v-e-t just in case and luckily, he is fine, just a little irritation in his eye.

Hope everycat is doing well!

love,
Lucy

I'm a sort of scaredy cat like Leo, but I've met your Mommy, so now it's time for Leo to meet my MRS. Use your superpowers on him!

My sister SooLing and I were not 'social' cats. When we had cat sitters to feed us, scoop litter, etc., they usually never saw us while they were in the house. But one "cat lady" knew how to make us come out. She'd come with a book to read, prepared to stay an hour or two if needed. She sat on the floor in the living room, reading to herself, aloud but quietly. Soon, our curiosity got the better of us and we'd come out to see what she was doing. She continued to read and didn't try to grab us and pet us or anything -- she just let us come to her if we wanted to. We learned to trust her voice and were not scared other times when she came to visit.

The "noise" that usually accompanies visitors scares many cats. But Leo will probably be okay when the sitter stays overnight. She probably won't be noisy and he'll get used to her being there after a short time. But if he is scared, he'll likely do what cats do: come out during the night when it's dark and quiet.

I come out and observe things and peeps that are strange/new from a distance...Minko hides until the perceived threat is gone...woe is him when the 'threat' stays overnioight...and brings her dog, MOL!

2 of our angel furblings were not stranger shy at all and would come and greet them like that was a job they had, to be the welcoming committee! MOL!

I hope things will be running smoothly at your den!

First congrats on being a dreamette. I voted for you BTW.

Now, that sounds like all great advice you got from jackson. He's so smart. Actually, in our family I'm like Charlie. I'll come out and see who it is but then don't trust enough to get close.

Good luck with the sitter.
