Arrival Story: We adopted/rescued Movado from our local animal shelter back in October 2005 after he was surrendered a few days prior. My boyfriend and I were seriously thinking about getting another cat after I took my 3 month old kitten Christian to the vet for his shots and the receptionist recommeneded to us that we get Christian a friend. My boyfriend stopped at the shelter on his way home from work the next day and found only 1 kitty there. He decided that he better wait to get home and ask me firat. Well, as soon as I heard that he was all by himself, I got in my car, with my boyfriend and 3 moth old Christian and drove to the shelter. There, we introduced Christian to Movado and they were instant friends, running around, sniffing eachother, playing, etc. We decided that we wanted to bring the kitty home with us right away! That night, Movado's first night home was awful. He was violently sick and throwing up everywhere. Although Christian and Movado were playing, Christian wasn't overly excited about sharing his home with another kitty right away. So, I slept in the bedroom with Christian and Shawn slept on the couch with Movado, seperating them for the night (they still sniffed at scratched for eachother through the door though.) I was SO nervous, but I couldn't bring him back to the shelter! So, I called my vet and he told me not to be alarmed, the change was just probably affecting Movado and Christian was just being a stubborn Tom. He told me if Movado didn't start feeling better or his symptoms didn't get better in a few days, call him. Luckily, the vet was right and I didn't have to call him back! Movado has loved every minute of living here with us just as much as we have enjoyed and loved him. Christian and Movado are not only the best of friends, they are brothers. They do everything together. At first, Movado was so shy and reserved with my boyfriend and I. He was a bit of a "scaredy-cat!" But, every day that he is with us, he becomes more and more outgoing and affectionate and adapted very well to his new and forever home. I never expected Movado to be as affectionate as he is with us but I can't say I'm upset either! He has really come around. Movado is the most gentle little boy and the sweetest cat I have ever met. He honestly, melts my heart and the heart of anyone who ever gets the pleasure of meeting him. His eyes just say "I love you." We LOVE him so much and give him a very happy and loving home, as he desreves. I am so glad we adopted him from the shelter and were able to give him a new, loving and caring home where he will have lots of food, water, toys, and an endless supply of love, forever. We love you Movado :)
Bio: In early March of this year, my boyfriend and I noticed that Movado was limping. There seemed to be something wrong with his rear leg on the right side. We didn't think much of it because Movado was only about 8 months old, thought it might be growing pains or something. The leg didn't seem to be bothering him at all and he was playing, running and walking fine. Well after a few days went by and the limp didn't get any better we decided to take him to the vet, just to be cautious. At first, the vet was stumped, there didn't seem to be anything wrong. It wasn't broken or anything. So he continued the examination. Well, this is where it all became clear. The vet found a heart murmur (a stage 3 out of 6). Long story short, although not really, Movado has heart diease. He has cardiomyopathy, which results is a defective heart pumping blood through the body less efficiently that a normal heart. So, unfortunately the sluggish flow of blood through his less efficent working heart commonly results in the formation of blood clots. This is why Movado was limping and why we took him to the vet in the first place. The clots usually dissolve slowly and limb function returns, which it has, although he limps here and there. However, just because the blood clots dissolve and go away, the underlying heart problem remains, and will throughout his life. But I am prepared for whatever comes my way, and I will do and fight for my baby like any loving momma would. I really don't plan on losing my babe anytime soon. He's my life and I plan on keeping him around for a very long time!
Movado's Birthstone: AGATE (ancient birthstone gem of cats under Gemini)
About the AGATE: Highly valued as a talisman or amulet in ancient times. It was said to quench thirst and protect from fevers. Persian magicians used Agate to divert storms. This is why the Agate is considered so powerful as it gives us the strength to carry on.
When I look into your eyes I see strength. When I pet your little black and white head and body I witness trust. When you lay with me and knead the blanky I expierience love. When I look at you I am looking at beauty.
Oh Movado! Movado, Movado, Movado! When you came into my life just almost 9 months ago, you changed me. You have made my life more worth living. You are one of the reasons I wake up every morning. There is nothing that I would or could ever change about you besides your heart condition. Regardless, you are perfect in so many ways and I love you with all of my heart. I enjoy everyday that I spend with you and you truly bring me so much joy. You are the sweetest and most gentle boy in the world. I am so glad that I have the chance to give you a life worth living. A life with lots of love, dedication and compassion...not to mention toys, food, water, and anything else you may want or need :) I promise you that I will never hurt you or leave you. You are a part of me and I swear I will give you and your brother Christian the best possible life you could ever want. Continue to trust me and I promise you... you won't be disappointed.
I am in kitty love with this beautiful kitty Ollie. Her page can be seen here: http://www.catster.com/pet_page.php?i=304869&j=t
Me and her have alot in common. We like and do all the same things. She only likes to be picked up sometimes, like me! And, she feels the same way I do about Mommy interupting us while playing, some nerve they have! Oh and, I am only 2 months older than her, I guess she likes older men :) Good news for me. See it first started with a crush, but it has purrrrgressed into love. She even told me she was going to dream about me while she is taking a catnap. Don't worry, I'm going to do the same. She is so pretty. We look alike too. I'm in love with Ollie, head over paws in love. I'm going to go knead the blanky because I am so excited! Then it is off to catnapping where, of course, I'll be having kitty dreams of my Ollie.
