Arrival Story:
Gracie's mom was a stray, and her father was the neighborhood Tom cat ( a tail-less orange cat) Gracie's mom brought her 4 kittens into my yard. 2 of the kittens had tails, 2 had no tails. We named the momma cat Patches because she was white with patches of color. We fed the momma cat to help her gain weight, she looked like she only weighed about 6 pounds and she was nursing 4 kittens. As time went on, the momma cat let me pet her. Then one day we noticed there were only 2 kittens left - Gracie and a tail-less boy kitten we named Snippety. We found a home for Patches and Snippety and we kept Gracie. She was about 8 weeks old, when we found a home for her mom and brother. Gracie was extremely shy, it took an act of Congress to get her to the vet. Somehow she knew when it was time to go, and she would hide somewhere, and not come out until several hours after her appointment. She was very very skiddish and it took her a long time to warm up to me. We moved to Tennessee when Gracie was 6 months old. She was tiny like her mother until she got spayed, then she gained 6 pounds in a few months bringing her up to 13 pounds. She lived to eat, she was put on a special diet to help her lose weight but she would always sneak over to the other cats food. She was a one person cat, she ran from everyone but me, and with me, she would snuggle and cuddle but was always poised to run like the wind at the first hint of perceived danger. Unfortunely, she developed the habit of urinating on the carpet and on clothes, and in closets. We had to find her a new home. I still miss Gracie, she was my sweetheart.
