Arrival Story:
Boxie Brown showed up where I work just about three weeks after I had found a very similar looking cat. I had taken the first cat to the vet who very lovingly fixed him up for us, and then he was adopted by my mom. So when Boxie showed up three weeks later & all beat-up I wasn't sure what to think. After a few minutes I convinced myself that there was no way, even if the cat had made the 20 mile walk from mom's house to my work, that he would look this bad seeing as how I had spoken to my mom the night before and he was still at her house. So here was the second orange and white neutered and declawed sick as heck cat in a months time. As is typical when I find a stray I called my husband crying. He said to take him to our vet and get him checked out. He was a sick, sick boy. Our vet lovingly force fed Boxie because he wouldn't eat on his own for many weeks. He had fleas, worms and some kind of neurological problem that caused him limp and not walk on one of his front paws. He stayed at the vet for a long time as my husband didn't want him to upset our kitty family. Then one day he bit one of the vets other kitty client's person. He had to come to our house as no one had expressed interest in a biting hissing mean as a snake cat. The vet had finally gotten him to eat on his own, but he would only eat Meow Mix for several months. He would also bite the heck out of me daily when I tried to pet him. He will still bite on occassion, espeically if he is feeling poorly and you make the mistake of touching his back near his tail. All of this took place in October of 2003, and overall, Boxie is still not the most friendly cat, but he is part of our family. Thanks to our special vet Dr. Andy Summers.
