Arrival Story:
Vic turned up as a feral stray who was getting in the cat flap to eat our cats' food. At first we chased him away, but one day we saw him sitting in the rain with his head down. We looked at each other and went out and called him to come and get some food. He was too frightened of humans to eat with us there, or even if he could see us through a window, but he gradually got tamer until the day he got hurt in a cat fight and got an abscess on a paw. He then let us catch him and we took him to the vet to get it drained, and him neutered. He came back with a temporary John Wayne swagger and, endearingly, retained his trust for us. I've found homes for seven strays, but he was too wild at first, so we kept him. He's now completely tame, very affectionate, and a real home-cat. He very readily accepted the new kittens Jasmin and Ashley when they arrived, and we could always find them in the garden (an adventure playground for cats) when we let them out by seeing where Vic was looking.
Bio:
Vic was named after Vic Fontaine, the holographic lounge-singer on Star Trek: Deep Space 9. It's a bit of a misnomer as he can only manage a ridiculous little kitten-like squeak. He's still a bit gauche around the house, chasing poor little Tessa, but he's settled in very well and has learned to play, purr, and sit on people's laps by watching Claudia and Tessa. He also loves to watch humans work.
