Arrival Story:
My family lost my beloved Symphony while I was in Europe. When I returned I wanted a new cat. With no car and no one to take me to get one, I found someone in the paper who had kittens and could meet me at a place I could walk to. She only managed to catch one of the kitties to bring. Poodie!

Bio:
Poodie died April 25, 2010 after being diagnosed with an enlarged heart and other problems. He was a beautiful cat, a good cat. He was a wonderful big brother to our other kitties and even, after a fairly short time of warming up to them, to our foster kittens from the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter. He will be sorely missed.

Poodie's Ponderings

I'm in heaven now

Really. I left Mommy and Daddy right around noon. I was on Mommy's lap as Daddy was driving. I didn't feel good at all. I knew Mommy and Daddy loved me though even as I left.

Well, now I can watch them all time. I can see those new fosters too. They got adopted and two of them get to stay together! That's great. They are good boys.

My sisters are sad, too, I know, but they still have each other and Mommy and Daddy. I get to meet Symphony now. I heard a lot about her. She used to catch birds and rabbits! How cool is that? I got to fly in a plane though. I told her about that. Mommy had to carry me in the airport or I'd cry and rub my head on the carrier so much that she thought my hair would come off. But once we were on the plane, I was quiet. It was a strange feeling to leave the ground like that, but I can fly anytime I want to now!

I just want Mommy and Daddy to know that I'm happy and healthy now and I'm as young as I want to be. There's a beautiful mansion here that Jesus has set aside for them. That's where I'll be when they finally get here!

We have babies again.

I haven't seen them yet, but I've heard them. Fosters. Mom says there are 4 kitties in there. One of them is a mama so we won't see her. I heard her hissing though. Mom says the mama has three babies. That's where all the noise comes from. They are playing there.

Mom says we have to wait awhile to see them. They could have colds or other things that can make us sick. They'll get checked out soon and then we'll get to see them.

Fostering

It's kind of quiet around here. I haven't written in awhile but it might be because of all the kittens. Mom and Dad decided to foster for the shelter that helped adopt Rigby out. Neddy was first. He had the biggest eyes you've ever seen! He was soooo active. Too active for me at my age but he just wanted to play anyway.

He was adopted his first adoption day. The same day, mom came home with 4 kittnes! Yep 4. Bruce Lee, Hopper, Sunset and Spot. They were a little older than Neddy when they came but kind of timid at first. That went quickly. But, actually, 4 kittens was better than just one. These four didn't pester me to play all the time. They played with each other. Bruce Lee got adopted first. He's our friend here now! Though his name is now Romeo. Hopper went next then Sunset. Spot stayed quite awhile then finally went to the shelter to live. She's in a foster-to-adopt home now, Mom says. We got a mama-cat and 4 new babies after that!

I didn't see the mama-cat but Mom says her name was Aspen. Her babies were Dakota, Denver, Denali and Vail. They were about 7 or 8 weeks old. Aspen went to the shelter when they were weaned. Dakota was so much bigger than the others and black, like a bear. The other three were pretty gray tabbies. Gray stripes I mean and boy were they hard to tell apart but we learned. Dakota and Denver got adopted together first, then finally Denali did.

Vail stuck around for quite awhile. She was still here when we got Wicket. She was just 4 weeks old, a tiny baby. She was a torby like Belle, but reversed. She looked Tortie, but if you looked close, you could see her stripes. She was real sweet until about 6 weeks old. Then she turned fiesty! She got adopted her first adoption day, too. Vail stayed a few weeks more and finally went to the shelter like Spot. But she was adopted the next week, Mom said! I'm glad she finally got her forever home.

But gosh, I kind of miss all the chaos now. It's just us grown-up kitties. I'll try to enjoy the quiet though. Mom says there will be more kittens. She both happy and sad about it. She said she's happy because she loves kittens, but it's sad because it means there are homeless kitties. That is sad. Kitties need to have loving, safe homes like we do with Mom and Dad. They take care of us, pet us, and most importantly, in my book, feed us.

I hope all kitties can have a home like us and if foster kittens helps that, then I'm all for it.
