Sad Day

It is a sad day today - our furrend Ethan ( has made his journey to the Bridge to join his brofur, Louis Le Beau.

Catster will not be the same without his happy, bright presence. Although, I am sure he will visit us from the Bridge now and then to sprinkle Angel Dust and keep an eye on us all.

You can light a candle for Ethan at: i=Ethan

Fly Free, Sweet Ethan.

Wow -COTD - I'm stoked and honoured

Mum logged on to the computer this morning and wondered why I had so many pmails and rossies. Hmm, she thought - it's not his birthday until October.

Then she opened Catster and saw my handsome (I'm very modest) face peering back at her from the COTD box.

Hee hee - I'd like to thank Catster for this honour, and my Mum, and of course all my Catster furrends, who are too numerous to be mentioned, but know who they are and are all greatly loved (until I make them walk the plank on Monday, arggghhhhh, as my alter ego Swashbucklin Capt Ra of the Longclaw - avast me hearty). Except of course, for my sweetheart, the Beautiful Lady Snicker de la Velvet Paw, who I would defend with my nine lives.

Anyway, thanks all,and don't forget to talk like a pirate on Monday.

Anzac Day

Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The Australian and New Zealand forces landed on Gallipoli on 25 April. It was a balls up - and we've never forgiven the Poms. The 25th of April was officially named ANZAC Day in 1916. Since 1928 it has been marked by a Dawn Service and wreath laying ceremony at war memorials Australia-wide. Before dawn, the gathered veterans would be ordered to “stand to” and two minutes’ silence would follow. At the end of this time a lone bugler would play the Last Post and then conclude the service with Reveille, the bugler’s call to wake up. There is also a Dawn Service at Gallipoli. 2015 will mark the 100 years since that battle. The Red Poppies are for Remembrance and look to another WWI battle field - Flanders.

Lest We Forget

It was with great sadness that we found out today that Hazel Lucy has gone to the Bridge.

Another of the Divas of Catster has joined the Heavenly Kitties.

We will miss you Hazel - your kindness to other kitties, you loving nature, and your beautiful face.

Fly Free, Beautiful Angel.

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Zachery tagged me in a new game! List 5 of the most annoying things your humans can do. Then tag 5 friends to do the same and put it in their diaries.

1) Getting into cuddling mood, when I'm not in the mood. She can't get the idea that I choose cuddle times, not her. Just cos Allie was happy to cuddle 24/7 doesn't mean the rest of us are, MOL.

2) V-E-T. HATE the carry basket, HATE the car, HATE the v-e-t. Oh, the indignities. I think enough said.

3) Letting those dogs sleep on MY bed. A Queen Size is not big enough for all of us. And Freya licks me, and fleas me. OK, so when I am in the mood, it is OK. But I get to make the decision, understand, ME ME ME.

4) D-I-E-T. I am big-boned, like Garfield. I DO NOT need my food intake watched. And if the other cats don't eat everything, I'm doing you a favour cleaning in up. Otherwise the dogs would eat it, and get FAT. Can't have fat dogs. They are big enough as it is.

5) INDOOR CATS!!! INDOOR CATS!!!! I want outdoors, so I can stalk birds and catch lizards. THE CATMAX IS NOT OUTDOORS. It is an outdoor cage through which I can see the outdoors and catch some zzzzz's in the breeze. Not the same, AT ALL. And cutting grass and bringing it inside for us to eat is NOT THE SAME as getting your own, thank you.

These will be my 5 picks to play the Tag game next:

Reeses Thomas, my BFF and brofur to my darling Snicker, the cutest cat on Catster

Muffy, another great furrend, and the sweetest cat you could meet

Ka_zar, my Aussie mate, and just to show I'm not biased, he's grey and white, not gold, MOL

Roo - OK, another gold sun god - Roo is a real role model for me, cos he is a lover, a fighter, and an inspiration

Mr D - who says we Aussies don't love our NZ mates - he's the coolest!!!

Allie needs Purrs

My brofur is really showing his age now. He is very thin. He has hardly eaten anything for several days. He is drinking water, but barely touching food. The vet has given him fluids, and Mum is taking him down again tonight for more fluids, but our vet doesn't think he will be with us for much longer.

He can still jump on the bed, and is still sleeping every night curled up in Mum's arms as he has done for most of the last 17-odd years since he came to live with us. He purrs and snuggles, and is taking his pills, but sometimes clenches his teeth and turns his head away. Mum is torn as to whether to make him take them or just leave him in peace.

We know, that at 19 he has had a long and happy life, but we still hope for a miracle so he can spend a little longer with us.
