Arrival Story:
We decided to adopt a cat and went to the local shelter, and found this four-month-old kitten who had half his tail missing with his tail bone showing. We spent some time with him and decided to take him home. They loaded him up in one of those cardboard cat carriers and sent us on our way. Less than 5 minutes later in the car, he started FREAKING out in the box, howling and growling and tossing around so much it was jumping off my lap and scared us nearly to death! We made it home all in one piece, and he's been with us ever since. He started out a crazy kitten, nearly climbing up the curtains and causing other kitten-type trouble but has mellowed out and become more and more cuddly as the years go by.

Bio:
After nearly ignoring us and giving us dirty looks for about a year after we brought Oliver the Coonhound home, he finally gave in and got over it and now spends more time than ever hanging out with us, moving from room to room with us and the dog, sitting on our laps. He's managed to convince the dog (as many cats do) that he is the one in charge. If they both go to the water bowl at the same time, the CAT gets to drink first while the dog stands waiting for his turn. We're pretty sure that Max taught Oliver to make sure that no other neighborhood cats cross the lawn. Max used to do the howling and growling whenever another cat crossed the yard. But recently Oliver has taken over that role, barking and growling at the cats passing by. Max no longer has to stand gurad at the window. Maybe that's why he's much more relaxed these days!
