I am the subject of an article about furballs written by Dr. Kathleen Keefe Ternes on the website felinedocs.com. Dr. Ternes warns that hairballs are not always normal or routine for a cat and she uses my case as an example.I suggest that all my furriends read it and make their humans read it too.

I had my semi-annual senior exam last week complete with blood tests and the results are good. Several weeks ago, my insulin was reduced to one unit twice a day. I have a lot to be thankful for and, as usual, many purrs for your prayers and to my entire medical team.

....but it didn't last long. I had my B/G test today and it was too high so I'm back on 2 insulin injections every day. Maybe next time I'll go longer. Please say a prayer for me. Many purrs, Francis

Don't Wake Me If I'm Dreaming

I had my blood/glucose checked on 7/25 and it was low so my primary care physician said to give me no insulin for 3 days and then have it checked. On 7/28 my B/G reading was normal so my doctor said to give no insulin and have it checked on 8/13. I have now gone 8 days without insulin and my water consumption and litter box activity are normal. Many purrs to everyone for your prayers and please continue to say a prayer for me. Many purrs to my entire medical team --they are the best.

First the bad news. In October, 2011 i was diagnosed with both diabetes and colitis. Now for the good news, my colitis was cured and my diabetes is under control as long as I have my 2 daily insulin injections. The better news is all my other tests were good. Many purrs to my medical team. They are the best.

On 6/21 I was off to see Dr. Ternes at The Feline Hospital for my checkup. I did not enjoy the ride but thankfully it was only about 10 minutes. Dr. Ternes said I'm in good health and my weight remains at 19 pounds. I saw Dr. Boo and Dr. Elsie (the 2 cats who work at the hospital) and we all ignored each other. I can relax now until December when I go back for my 6 month checkup.

Francis Withdraws From Hot Dog Eating Contest

I went to see Dr. Ternes on 6/30 for my distemper booster and weigh in. My checkup was good but I seem to have gained a little weight and now weigh 19 pounds 12 ounces. I think Dr. Ternes needs a new scale but you know how doctors are. She had the nerve to suggest Eukanuba weight control dry food which, after tasting, I have to admit is quite tasty. She also said I should come back in 3 months for a weigh in (how degrading). So it is with deep regret that I announce that because of Dr. Ternes, I have withdrawn from Coney Island's hot dog eating contest on July 4.

I had beeen eating Blue Buffalo food which has been recalled. Yesterday, my human wasn't sure I was acting right so I was off to see Dr. Ternes at The Feline Hospital. She examined my handsome body and found nothing wrong and then took some of my blood to be tested. The results were good and I'm a healthy handsome cat. It was decided that I was just Francis being Francis.

The Day After Being Cat Of The Day

Wow, what a great day yesterday was when I was named Cat of the Day (except that the landscapers were here all day running around with what looked and sounded like weapons of mass destruction) . I took my keyboard into my room (the closet) and started typing thank you notes to all the great Catster cats who sent me such nice e-mails. I typed my claws down to my paws so there will be no need to have them clipped on my next visit to the doctor. I should also thank Catster for recognizing that I am the handsome, perfect cat and that I am as humble as a perfect, handsome cat can be. Since the landscapers spoiled my daytime party, I partied well into the morning and called my human 3 or 4 times to join me.

My Checkup

I went to the doctor today and she had the nerve to tell me to start exercising and to cut back on my eating. I've gained a little weight and I now tip the scales at a healthy 19 pounds. She tried to clean my teeth but I had no part of that. I am happy to say that I am now back home and resting comfortably after a stressful day.
