Arrival Story:
I was rescued by Natalie and Steve from Paws for Love, in Wayne, NJ. Before that, I was a VERY young single mother to two surviving kitties. I was never a stray, even though everyone thought I was. I am just too neat and tidy to live outside. I am so happy to be loved by my two people, who enjoy me for my unique and quirky personality. I must admit -- I am now a very spoiled cat.

Bio:
I also have two different colored eyes, which they say causes me to be able to see spirits. And I must admit that I do. In fact, I often see Mr. Checkers (my predeceasor in the house). I love to freak my parents out by staring at a certain spot in the apartment and making a big tail! But they need to know that Checkers is still here, even if they can't see him... And because of me, they do! :x

My Tail of Devotion for Esmeralda

Esmeralda came to our home in late December, 2006, after recently losing our wonderful 14 year old baby, Checkers. You can see his profile under Esmeralda's "family."

Devastated after Checkers's death (he had to be put to sleep -- it was more merciful that way), we vowed to never have any more cats. We put away the cat water fountain, the cat food, and gave his cat carrier away. It hurt to even think about having another kitty love.

But then, Natalie decided to go on petfinder, "just to look." And suddenly, Esmeralda was there. She was so striking because she had beautiful white fur, and two DIFFERENT colored eyes! You see, when Natalie was a child, she had a white kitty who was her soulmate. As soon as she spotted Es, she knew she had found another. An excited call was placed, and soon Esmeralda was in her "furever home."

But not before giving birth to two beautiful kittens who were adopted together. There names are Pip and Sqeak. Es looks at them every now and again on the happy pet tails page of the shelter, and sends them good mommy wishes.

At first, Steve was scared to love Es, but now he wrastles with her, and calls her his "little guuurl." Among other things ;) He has even bestowed upon her the cat water fountain, and one of Checker's mice that she found in a box of old things. And Natalie gives Es whatever she wants, because Es reminded her that life is about love, and death is a part of the whole process in recognizing that love.

Besides, Esmeralda is not just any old cat. She is a magickal kitty, capable of seeing spirits, reading minds, and most of all, playing with Checkers when he comes for a visit! Some people say it's her two different eyes, but her mom and dad think that she is special, even if she is actually a rare breed of cat. She's a Khao Manee, you see -- amazing for centuries...

Amazing to us, always... we love you, Esmeralda.

It's a cat's life...

So last night, my mommy didn't go to her night class, so I got some extra attention. (Read: Cat treats and some nip). But it wasn't until DADDY came home, that things got interesting! Mom is great, but she doesn't play rough with me and make me into a wildabeast like Daddy does...

Daddy "wrastled" with me, tossed me around, and let me chew on his hand for a while. Mommy just laughed because she knows that I like it rough every now and then, but she's afraid I might bite her too hard. Daddy is a landscape designer and Mommy is an artist/art teacher, so I guess he has tougher skin. When it's regularly nice outside, Mom has promised me that she will buy me a leash and a harness for taking walks outside. We'll see how I like that...

Right now, I hang out in the windows when it's warm enough, and sometimes Dad takes me for a "walk" while he carries me around the neighborhood. But I'm very good -- I never run away. I looked for my home for so long that I know a good thing once I've got it.

OH! And last night my favorite show on the Sci-Fi Channel was on -- "Ghost Hunters." I like to get right up to the T.V. and watch. I always get really excited when they say a house is haunted, and I make a big tail. I like anything about ghosts, really, because I can see them. I'm glad that Mom and Dad don't think this is weird, because a lot of humans are afraid of what Daddy's sister calls, "G's."

Well, it's time for my all-afternoon nap in my snuggly bed, so off I go. Goodnizzzzzzzzz....

It's snowing!!!

Right now I'm sitting on my favorite perch (aka, the edge of the tub), and I just realized that it's snowing outside! Man, am I glad to live indoors! Mom is thinking of skipping her night class, because school is far away. This would make me oh, so happy, because then I could walk all over mom's art project while she removes me every five minutes. I'm not really all that interested in what she's doing, but I like to be a noodge. Maybe if I'm enough of a pest, she'll hit me up with some of the "magick catnip" she keeps in the closet for such occassions. Sometimes I can really be a handful. Tee hee... :x
