Play, play, play--that's what Rocket loves most!
Being ignored and being brushed
Favorite Nap Spot:
Next to his baby sister, Flower
During the first weeks of his life, Rocket was discovered in a local apartment complex by a nice gentleman who wanted to keep the little guy, but was about to ship out to Iraq. So he took the sweet bundle of fur to the local animal shelter.
Soon thereafter, Rocket contracted a nasty upper respiratory infection. About that time, a kindly shelter volunteer noticed Rocket and took him to her home to nurse back to health. She ended up saving his young life.
But the little guy absolutely refused to die. With a very high fever and an infection raging through his little body, the situation looked grim for the kitten. But through sheer kitty determination, he survived.
After he regained his health, his fairy godmother (as his foster mom shall be forever known in the heart of Rocket's adopted mama) featured him on the animal shelter's website. It was on this site that I first caught a glimpse of the little bundle of black fur.
It was pretty much love at first sight.
The sighting was confirmed when we met for the first time a couple of weeks later.
Rocket is fearless, stubborn, strongwilled, affectionate, extremely playful and absolutely beautiful. I couldn't ask for a better cat.
Rocket's full name is Maurice Rocket Richard, named for the greatest hockey player--ever (sorry Wayne). Richard played for the Montreal Canadiens from 1942-1960. Like his feline namesake, he was a fearless player.
Rocket's bed is actually a child size hockey net with some comfy blankets and a pillow.
