Bubba went to the Rainbow Bridge today to join his mom, Dippy.
He gave his parents almost 13 1/2 wonderful years together. He was a easy going cat, nothing bothered him. He loved everyone who came to the house and was the official greeter. He enjoyed laying on the bench outside in the summer with dad beside him.
He is survived by his parents, cat sister, Lissie; dog sister, Chloe and his dog brother, Duncan.
He'll be forever loved and forever miss as our first Big Boy.

Mom is just now getting around to writing about it. I turned 13 this year.
It was great. I laid around and slept and slept. Then mom gave me my birthday dinner. REAL TURKEY!! I LOVE real turkey. That's what I get for my birthday every year, which is just fine by me. I also went outside on the bench with mom and dad. I don't need the harness that often. I pretty much know just to run out and jump up on the bench and stay there.
My sister, Lissie had a couple of bites of turkey also to help celebrate my birthday. She then licked my face clean. (She thinks she is the mother of all of us at the house)

That's all my dog brother and sister are doing. I don't know was all the fuss is about. It's cold outside......why, oh, why would they want to be out in 6 inches of snow and ice?
Me, I have no complaints. I'm nice and toasty warm. I just snooze the day away by sleeping on my stand or in bed with dad after work. Spring will be here soon, and mom will get me a new harness and hook me up and I'll enjoy the warm spring sun, smell the fresh air and snooze.
Guess that's what comes with age, wisdom. You learn to take the days as they come and not get your dander worked up. Either that, or I'm one lazy cat. Personally, I'd like to think it's the former, not the latter.
Well, time for my afternoon snooze....this time, I think I'll actually move a little and go to the bedroom. Mom has an blanket she bunches up for me to curl up in. She's the greatest!!!!

I love Christmas! I don't get toys or anything like that. I don't play with them like I use to. But, I do get a can of chicken from Santa every year in my stocking. I love that chicken. I get a half a can on Christmas morning, and the rest the next day. That's two whole days of having chicken....YUM!!!!
Then I pretty much just snooze on my mat that reflects my heat back to me on the cat stand. Get scratches behind my ears as mom and dad walk by. Take a nap with dad, which I know he'll do after eating Christmas dinner.
It's not much different than what I do everyday, but for some reason, this day feels so much more special.

I noticed that it is getting colder in the room upstairs where I like to sleep sometimes. Makes my old bones ache, so mom bought me a sleeping mat that reflects my body heat back. She put it on the tall scratch post downstairs for me to lay on, which I do all day!!!! It feels so good. Of course, I still go to the bedroom at night and sleep with mom and dad, nothing beats "love" heat I say.
My was saying how they won't be having Thanksgiving until mid December, when my Uncle Bob is in town. They are going to go to grandma's house and will bring me a little turkey home then. Then, there will be Christmas for our presents. Santa usually gets me a can of chicken to put in my stocking. I don't care for cat treats and toys are played with very little by me anymore. So, that's about the only thing Santa can think of for me, which is great in my book

Those dogs got a bath today! Boy, could you tell they were NOT happy about it either!!!! That's what they get for not being cats and cleaning themselves all the time. That also shows how more superior we cats are than dogs. We need our parents to feed us, pet us and clean out our box. And we have to do so little in return to pay them back. Dogs have to listen, do tricks and obey the parents.
It's been a long time since I had to have one of those baths. I use to have to get them when I was young because of the fleas I would get from the area we lived in. I bet I got a bath about every week...or so it seemed. I was so sensative to fleas, I was hairless. Well, when we moved from that place, mom gave me one last bath, just before we left, and I've never been bothered again. Now all she has to worry about it brushing me. She almost has all the mats out of me where I hid when the dogs first came. Now, they pay no attention to me and I roam that house once again.

I love this heat!!!! I go and sit outside on the bench and enjoy it so much. To hear my dog brother and sister whine, you think it was something terrible. They just don't know how good that feels on my old bones.
Well, I did get my chicken breast for my birthday (YUM YUM!) and shared it with Lizzie. And mom did put extra catnip on the cat tower so I could roll around in it. It was a purrrfect day!

I'll be a whole 12 years old on July 4th. That's when mom celebrates it for me. She can't quite remember when I was born, but knew is was around then. I can't wait to see what I get special to eat for my birthday. Hope it's a nice big piece of shredded cooked chicken breast. That's my favorite; even if I have to share it with Lissie. I won't get any toys probably, I don't seem to have much interest in them anymore. Maybe a little extra catnip sprinkled in my lounge area.

They live in Florida and I haven't seen him in such a long time!!!! He scratched my head and by my tail (my favorite spot) and talked to me. He said he is always talking about me in Florida. He likes the way I meow.......or what is suppose to be a meow. My mouth makes the motion of meowing but all the comes out is like a "ack". Or sometimes, no sound at all. I've never really meowed much, just when I was looking for my mom when she went to the Rainbow Bridge.
Uncle Howdy and Aunt Nina got to meet my other brothers and sisters for the first time, so, it was nice to be the one that they knew first and the longest.

They both have been chosen for Today's pick. Guess that's okay. I won't tell Lissie outloud, but I'm pretty proud of her. She has a tendency to get a big head sometimes.
I know that someday I'll be on there, and I'll just bide my time till then. Then, I think I say nanner, nanner, nanner to her.

My little brother dog, Duncan had a birthday the other day and mom made him special treats for it. I don't know what the fuss was all about. I mean, come on, he's only 2 years old.
Now when my birthday comes up, that's something to celebrate about! I'll be twelve years old. Mom will probably give me REAL chicken as my treat and some Cat Sip to drink. I really don't like treats like my little sister cat, Lissie, who is really just a little garbage disposal. She'll eat just about anything. She isn't refine or dignified like I am.
Another thing happening at the house. Dad seems awful sad the last couple of days. I heard that his mom is gone. I know when my mom, Dippy, went away, I cried for her to come out for several days. I was pretty sad, too. So, I've been sleeping real close to him and meowing every so soft, he seems to like it when I with him. Duncan, Chloe and Lissie have been trying to get close to him also. Well, that's what a family does is help out, right?

Boy oh boy! Was dad upset with Chloe the other day. She jumped into the pond dad just built trying to get at the fish in there. Silly dog! They've been there for about 3 weeks (or so I heard, I don't know. I WON'T leave the deck). When I got outside, I just jump right up on the bench and lay down, which I got to do the other day. It was so beautiful outside! Dad sat next to me and pet me while I enjoyed the nice afternoon breeze. Yep, spring is here alright.
Maybe mom and dad will fire up the pit in the gazebo tonight, since it's still pretty cool then. I love sitting out there and feel that nice, warm fire. Aw yes, life is good to this old cat!

Well, the last two weeks, I've been coming downstairs and staying more and more. Since mom brought home those two noisy hairy things the last couple of years (I'm talking about Duncan and Chloe); I've been staying upstairs out of their way.
But, I think I know now that they aren't going to eat me alive; that is as long as I stay away from Chloe's food. She doesn't like anyone around it. And, she hasn't been trying to chase me like when she first came here. Duncan has gotten the idea pretty much that I DON"T like to play with him.
This morning, I sat in the window in the front room for about an hour just looking out. I haven't done that in a long time. And mom is trying to brush the knots out of my fur that appeared, since I wouldn't come out for her to do that much. She said something about going and getting a shave maybe, whatever that is. Well, back to the bedroom with dad. He just got off work and I know he won't be able to sleep unless I'm there with him. Later

I can tell the weather has changed. I'm coming out of my upstairs room where dad has his orchids at more often. I love that room, it's warm all the time it seems and feels SO good to me. Pretty soon, mom will put my harness on and let me sit outside on the bench. I don't like the grass, it feels funny on my paws and I won't walk on it. Dad says that someday, he's going to make me and Lissie something that we can be put in to enjoy the outside better. I don't know if it will be this year or not. He's got a lot a "projects" he wants to work on.
Mom says she is going to pin me down and do some trimming on me. I've been hiding up there so much, that she hasn't been able to give me good brushing and I've got some knots in my fur she wants to brush or cut out, whichever she can do to me. I love to be brushed a little, as long as it's my shoulders and chest. I HATE having the rest of me brushed. I usually bite the brush and mom's hand. Well, dad will be home soon and I have to eat. Meow at you all later

Duncan woke me out of a good sleep with his howling last night. I just about jumped up off the bed. (Well, I at least lifed my head to see what was going on). I don't know what triggered him, but that was the most forlorn sounding howl I've ever heard. It lasted just for a minute, and then he settled down. Mom gave me a little pat to make sure I wasn't to worked up over it. Guess some good came out of being work up.

How is the world is a cat suppose to get his rest around this house. What with dad and Duncan digging, Chloe chasing squirrels and cats, and Lissie meowing through the house wanting to go outside. I think I only got about 10 hours sleep yesterday. That's hardly a nap! Well, at least it's suppose to rain today, so everyone should be pretty quiet. The only excitement is when mom gets home tonight from work. That should give me about 12 hours of more of rest. Then, mom will give me treats, pet me for a while and make room on her bed for me. (That's where being the oldest comes in handy). Yepper, sleeping in bed with mom and dad at night, can't be beat. The dogs have their own bed and Lissie sleeps somewhere else most of the time. Well, (yawn (stretching) ) time to find a quiet place and sleep...later folkssszzzzzz

I came from a litter of four kittens, a twin that looked just like me even. Mom had trouble telling us apart when we were nursing. He was bigger than me and mom called him Whiner. I also had a gray short hair sister that mom nicknamed Junior, because she looked so much like my mom. There was a little black sister, but she was born sickly and didn't make it. As you can see, I'm a very pretty boy (at least, that's what mom calls me). I'm getting up there in age now, and don't play as much as I use to. But when I was younger, I was into all kinds of things. One of the funniest things I did (although then it didn't seems so funny when mom and dad realized what I did), was how I would hook a nail into a BIC lighter and fling it around the room time and time again. Well, one day, mom searched high and low for a watch that dad had gotten her for Christmas. After about a week, she gave up, figuring she had dropped it somewhere, because it wasn't on the stand where she always took it off and put it. A little later, I was sitting on the stand and dad took his watch off and put it there, just like mom would do. I took my nail, hooked it into the wristband and ever so slightly leaned over and dropped it in the little trash can they had there. You should have seen the look in their eyes when I done that!!!! Didn't take them long to realize what had happened to mom's watch.
I look forward to meeting some friends of Catster.
