Calvin In Charge

My Happy Meal

Back in my younger days, I ate food that wasn't the best for me. That was our pre-Catster days when we didn't really know anything.

Then we got on the good stuff - you know, the dry food that doesn't have all that filler and gluten and stuff that is bad for you.

And our wet food changed too. We love the seafood varieties, but we got switched over to the turkey and chicken because sometimes the seafood varieties aren't so good for us older cats that have kidney problems.

We all liked the new food we were eating. And then I got that nasty C. Between the chemo, and that Ann Emia chick, I didn't feel like eating anything.

So, the hunt began - find a food that Calvin will eat. We have every brand and every variety of wet food on the market sitting in the cabinet or in the refrigerator - MOL! The vet lady gave us samples of some dry food - the good dry foods.

But guess what I like the best?

The seafood Fancy Feast, and Fancy Feast Dry Gold. Neither of them are the best, but Mawmee says that if I'll eat it, I can have it. You should see all the others come running the minute they smell seafood in the air. You would think there is a huge dead fish in the kitchen with the attention my chef gets when she opens a new can.

Fancy Feast ain't cheap, but I'm worth it. Mawmee is able to get the turkey variety in a 12 pack box, but the seafood doesn't come that way. She has to pay 50 cents a can for it, so I'm the only one that gets it. Did I say I'm worth it? Yesterday, Mawmee and Daddy went into a new Target store that opened in our area. The Fancy Feast seafood I like was 62 cents a can. She about fainted. And then bought me 2 cans because we were out. I'm definitely worth it!

And you want to hear something funny about Sarah, my favorite vet tech? The vet techs always ask what I'm eating and how well I'm doing with the food. Mawmee has to admit to them that I'm eating stuff that I probably shouldn't be eating. And then Sarah says, well, that is okay, we know that we shouldn't eat too many times at McDonald's, and we do that anyway!

Fancy Feast is my Happy Meal . . . . . . . . .

An "approved" junk food diet -- what more can a cat ask for? If Sarah says it's OK, go for it!

Hey we are all worth it..every cent!

Calvin, the important thing is that you are eating! It may be like McD's ,but that can be pretty yummy. When I wouldn't eat anything but too skinny, my vets told mommy to feed me anything I would eat, so I got home made chicken and went back to yummy fancy feast a few days before I crossed the bridge. Mommy has found cases of the seafood at Feeder's supply before, so you can tell your mommy she may want to look there for it by the case.

Purring the "junk" food puts some weight on you soon

Your heavenly pal, Jack

We get Fancy Freast, We love it. Do you have a BJ's Wholesale club near you. It is a little cheaper there. We also get Friskies and just love the Friskies indoor canned food. It's a little cheaper cause it's in the bigger can. But when your sick and need to eat our Grammy and Meowny Give us what we want too. The vet always tells them better to eat something than nothing. Good luck on eating Calvin. If you do get a Happy Meal make sure the give you the toy too. MOL!

Love your friends,
Kibbles, Francis, & Yoda

Many purrs and prayers to you and your family

Hi Uncle Calvin! We all like the fishy varieties of FF too, and believe me you're worth it! My personal fave is the tuna in sauce (I eat the sauce and leave the meat, mol). Clyde is not allowed to eat the saucy ones as they give him a poopy problem, so he eats the pate. Mum buys both kinds it at the local Publix supermarket in boxes of 24 cans and it's $12.99. Friskies is cheaper but we waste a lot of it. There's no waste with the yummy FF... although it may not be in the same league as some of the organic foods (and we've tried most of them), if we like it, eat it, and don't waste it, mum thinks it's ok! Are you still into Tiki Cat? xxx

Ha! Our vet told us that feeding your cat Fancy Feast is akin to people eating McDonald's every day for every meal. We don't get it anymore either. But when Catsy got sick, we were told that ANY food a sick kitty will take is good. I know when my human Grandpa was sick with tummy cancer, he got to eat popsicles and pudding and McDonald's shakes and ice creams all day!

I LOVE FF, but mommy only lets us have it as a "treat" once or twice a week. Then the Fancy Feast in the Blue cans came out, and now I only want that! Those cans are like 85 cents! Anyway, mommy has lots of coupons, and depending on what litter you use, you get free cans and coupons inside too.(Tidy Cat). Well, enjoy it for me please! Glad you're eating, Calvin!

Sorry, of the subject - I just love all your pics so much!!!
Someone in your human family must be a professional photographer.

Otherwise, eat boy, eat and eat and eat.
Eat all you need and eat all that's good for you.

Eating is good. Very goooood! Trust me. I know.
And we all want you strong and healthy, you know that.

We are so happy that you are so much better.

Just EAT, boy. I wish I could share my magical appetite with you. What you say tastes great. Your mommy is a star. Trust her.

Love & Light

Janie - the big eater.

I ate Fancy Feast as an occasional food most of my life and look how old I am! I don't believe it can be that bad for you.

And of course eating is what's most important. Mama once kept a sick puppy alive by feeding it honey because that's all it would eat. The vet had a fit but that puppy grew up to be 21 years old. Eating something is better than eating nothing!

For the last year or so before I went to the Bridge FF was about the only thing I would eat. Scooter told us it was the crack of the catfood world and she wasn't kidding! YUM!

Whatever get's you through Calvin is what you've go to do. By the way, have you seen how expensive Newman's Own is? MeOWW!

Of course you're worth it.

At this point of your finicky'ness - I think it matters more "that you're eating" than "what you're eating"

Just no developing a taste for shoe leathers or towels or other non-foody things. 'kay?!

You eat that Fancy Feast, Calvin. The Vet told Mommy the same about Ashley. Give him any cat food he will eat.
You are worth anything it costs, Pal. even if we have to take up a collection for you. We love you so much.

Thank you for my shrimp for being DDP (or is that a sickness)?

Love you

Listen, Calvin. When you are a senior citizen and have the C problem, then you get to eat whatever you want. You have earned it and you need the calories. So, we say, eat Fancy Feast, eat dessert first, then eat some more dessert, then have some more Fancy Feast. Just eat, you hear?
We love you! Scooter and Nikko

I'm so glad you're eating. I love Fancy Feast too. I eat tender beef & liver feast or lately I've been loving The Aristocats Chunky Chicken Feast. I even prefer this over the grilled chicken that Daddy likes to give me. As the vet said, give me what I'll eat and they sure have. Your house sounds like mine, we've got all different kinds of food and tons of baby food too...and we don't have babies in our house!

Glad to hear you're eating. Keep it up!!!
