I'm very sad to hear about our dear friend and everycats' and humans' friend, HAZEL LUCY. As everyone and everycat know, she made her journey to the Bridge yesterday. Her Mommy made the right decision to let her go just as our Mommy had to let Bentley go because he also had CRF. CRF is horrible and irreversable. She saw Bentley, a once 12 lb, cat waste away to half his weight. She gave him sub-q fluids for a while and then it didn't work anymore. He told her when it was time. He also told me that his value of life had diminished and how he wanted his pain to go away. To this day, we both miss Bentley.
Our Mommy cries with Hazel Lucy's Mom. She understands very well the sorrow and loss she is feeling. It's hard, very hard and time will heal the intensity of the pain. After going through these painful stages of grief, one can move on, and after that there will be times when similar situtations rise up which act like a catalist to those who have suffered losses. Mommy's old pain from losing Bentley, as many others' losses have again surfaced with Hazel Lucy's passing.
Also, writing, scrapbooking, and talking with others are the best therapeutic tools to work through the grief. Also, to stuff these feelings of grief is not good. Some people cannot cry at all. These people need catalists such as watching a "tear-jerker" movie. This was told to our Mommy by one of the secretaries at our vet's office when Bentley made his journey. Crying during the grief process is healthy even though these feelings are scary and intense.
Anyway, we feel deeply for Hazel Lucy's Mom and send her many prayers and purrs. At the same time, we are glad Ms. Hazel is now in God's hands and pain free. She's amongst other angels, (a lot from Catster). She's the queen of angels at the Bridge, and in fact, I believe she'd be wearing more than one halo as she had so much angelic power on earth.
Hazel Lucy, we miss you and at the same time, your memory will always live in your Mommy's heart and our hearts. We send all our prayers and purrs to your Mommy.
Rest in peace, dearest Hazel Lucy.
Purrs & Breeps,
Sampy
