indoors and outdoors
Arrival Story: One day in 1997 I saw a photograph of five kittens that had that Maine Coon look. Underneath the photo it said "free kittens, all boys and below that was a phone number. This photo was attached to a bulletin board outside a grocery store in Solomon's Island, MD. I called the number and went to pick up Sampson (who I named after his dad. I just added the "Silver Dollar" part to it because he had a little bit of silver cast to his fur. The owner told me his dad was silver, longhaired and big. He hid the whole time I was there. I did get to see baby Sampson's mommy who was a tiny shorthair named Skimpy. She looked like a kitten herself.
Bio: Sampson or Sampy or Pooter is the most affectionate cat I have ever owned. He loves giving me sandpaper licks, especially in my hair or on my chin. When I sit down at the computer, he always wants on be on my lap and starts in with his kneading and drooling and licking and purring. Every night he sleeps with me behind my knees. He loves to play fetch and he initiates the game by bringing me toy mice or pom-pom balls. Sometimes at night he brings me mice or balls and I find them on the bedroom floor in the morning whereas they weren't there the night before. When Bentley passed away Sampson became more and more effectionate. It was like he was glued to me. I had to get him a playmate and I did so in June of 2005. His name is Bailey Gray Cloud and he will be entered also in Catster as one of my cats.

CAT OF THE WEEK:
My oh my, Joss has done it again with being in the Diary Limelight. Concats, Joss!
Also, Mommy has a vet appointment scheduled for me on Saturday so they can look at my tooth to see if I need another anti-biotic shot. I'm feeling pretty good as I let Mommy medicate me without yelping or running away. She even told me that the painkiller dose has been reduced a little bit. The vet will also tell her when to take me off the painkillers. She also has a concern as to why I'm shedding a lot (I have bald spots on both sides of my neck. Perhaps, I need more than one Tapazole a day. We shall see. Wish me luck.
Purrs & Breeps,
P.s. I all so thank everyone who has given me Power of the Paws and purrs.
Mommy received in the mail yesterday, the cardiologist's "Assessment" Here goes:
"Sampson has a history of restrictive cardiomyopathy with pericardial effusion and collapsing episodes prompting the previous visit. With the decrease in Sotalol dose to 10 mg twice daily from 20 mg every 12 hours, Sampson's sinus bradycardia has resolved. The heart appears essentially unchanged from prior visit with only a minimal amount of pericardial effusion present. His decreased appetite is concerning as well as his weight loss. It may represent progressive cardiac cachexia, progressive renal disease, uncontrolled thyroid levels, or be secondary to decreased appetite from the tooth abscess. It will be important to monitor his weight and appetite and recheck labwork (Chem, T4) at his C.P. Animal Hospital. Although he is a poor candidate for anesthesia, if his appetite does not improve and is a result of the tooth pain, a consultation with a veterinary dentist is advised. They may be able to take out the tooth with minimal anesthesia and/or local blocks."
I'm supposed to get rechecked at the cardiologist's 3-6 months or sooner if I have any weakness or collapses. I'm also to get my blood checked if my appetite remains decreased.
Anyway, I'm doing pretty good now. Today, I ate some dry food and loved the gravy off the tuna that Landy mentioned. Mommy has slightly decreased the painkiller dose too. The vet wants her to gradually do this but not to discontinue it until my blood work is checked out to see if the infection in my tooth is gone.
Wish me luck and purrs are appreciated so I can continue feeling better.
I know my time is not long and no one knows when I'll be called to the Bridge. Only God knows that. In the meantime, I'm taking it one day at a time and enjoying being around Mommy and my lovely new sister and my cuddle buddy, Landy and of course Bail and Merl.
Well, that's it for now. It's medication time for me.
Wow! I got honored on the day after a thanksgiving for my diary the day before. Thank you so much, Diary Gal!
I also thank my pawsome friends for their concats as follows:
1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. SMILEY CASSANOVA - cool comment;
3. PLATELICKER - pretty blue rosette.
Also, us kitties (me, Landy & Bail) got to enjoy some chicken parts such as the liver and heart. Boy oh boy was that ever yummy! Poor Joss and Merl were hiding under the couch the whole time Auntie Mary was here so they missed out on these goodies. I don't know why those two are so shy and skiitesh around anyone who visits Mommy.
Anyway, we still have cold weather and Landy's still keeping me warm.
Lastly, I feel pretty good and I'm still taking my meds without any problems.
That's it for now. Have a great Friday night my friends!
