Arrival Story:
I'm a flood waif. When I was just a kitten, in September of 1996 a very big storm roared through my home. My mom and brothers and sisters all had to take refuge in the upper floor of a human's house. We all sat at the top of the stairs watching the floodwaters from the Cacapon River rising step by step, but eventually, the water stopped before it reached us. The floods finally receded after a couple more days, and eventually humans returned to clean up the mess left by the water. One of them picked me up, and I started purring immediately, so she decided to call me Purr. She took me home and adopted me for her own.
A couple of years later she met and married the man who is now our human. The woman who rescued me is gone now, but the man she married continues to take care of us.
Bio:
I have replaced Clayton as the fattest cat in the house. Although I weigh less than he did when he was at his fattest (he was 31 lbs. at one time), I'm doing pretty well in this cat-egory (20 lbs. or so).
I'm afraid my weight gain may have been my undoing...I died overnight and when my human found my body (stiff and cold on the living room floor), he took it to the vet to have a necropsy done. The vet said I had a slightly enlarged heart and that he thought I might have died of some form of heart failure....
