Orange Tabby

THE NEW YORK YANKEES!!! Beating up on his big sister Dutchie, covering 'the staff' with lots of kisses, joining people in the shower, and drinking bottled water with mom out of the cap, sleeping on mymmy's legs and climbing ladders.

Losing playoff games, compressed air noise, snoring (he swats at the noses that offend), having his nails clipped, being inside when people are visible outside through a window, car rides and the vacuum

Favorite Toy:
catnip mice, bubbles, feathers, metal bottle caps and water- especially in a tub or sink

Favorite Nap Spot:
On a lap, a kitchen chair, a pillow by a sunny window and now, his YANKEES and RACECAR beds

Favorite Food:
pineapple, peaches, coffee (bad kitty!), anything Dutchie is eating and TIKI CAT

Talks back when spoken to, flys, plays in water, fetches (new skill discovered 6/06) and can become invisible when something in the house is knocked over or broken

Arrival Story:
Little baby Gordo Cooper (Yes, he's named after the Astronaut) was found on August 23rd, 2005 at approxiamtely 9:30 PM in a neighbors side yard a few feet from the road. I found this tiny guy after a neighbor had told me a few days before, that someone had come down our street and dumped a box of week-old kittens on the side of the road. He was easy to catch and NEEDED to be caught- he didn't put up any fight. He would have definitely died if I didn't find him, he was too small to survive on his own. REALLY small. He was covered in fleas and ticks and was dirty with flea waste and the normal 'dirt' you would expect to find, has a SEVERE eye infection that crusted his eyes almost all the way shut and all over the front of his face. Also, an obvious upper respitatiory infection that produced sneezy stuff and who knew what else? We took him home, gently cleaned off his face and eyes and gave him some water to drink. Not having a proper place for him to sleep and since we have other animals we were concerned about being infected, we put him in a rubbermaid with a towel and hope he'd go to sleep for the night. He was out in a little over 10 minutes. In the morning, I called my vet to get him seen as soon as possible. I was told in the meantime to see if he would eat anything that I already had in ths house from Dutchess, my other cat. He didn't eat much- only licked the food for a minute or so and then gave up. At 2:00 PM I brough him to the vet and they checked him out. He was severly dehydrated and run down which was to be expected from a stray kitten with all those blood-suckers all over it. The infections didn't help him much either but the vet said that all those things were minor and treatable providing he didn't have FIV or FeLv. They had to get a blood sample from the little guy and needed to poke him 5 times to get a large enough sample to test- all his veins were collapsing. They finally had to take the blood from his neck but there was enough to prove he was negative for both the virus and the disease. I was now going to tackle the other obsticals that little Gordy had to deal with too. The eye infection, the URI, possible worms and all the fleas and ticks. Apparently, baby shampoo will kill fleas (it smothers them) and I was to bathe him as soon as I got him home and comb out all the dead blood-suckers. He didn't like that bath, but he dealt with it and didn't fight me to much once he realized that I would win. He had a lot of ticks that I had to pull out with a small pliers. Then, he was a completely different cat when he was dry- fluffy and cute and purring like crazy. Already his eyes were beginning to clear up and hadn't crusted since the night before. The vet shot him up with a TON of fluid so his little body was sucking that up which HAD to make him feel better. Then, he ate the food the vet gave me. I had to mix it with some water and feed it to him out of a syringe, but he ate about half a can of the stuff- almost twice what his weight called for in a day! He loved the food and wouldn't stop going after it. I was so happy that it looked like Gordy was going to pull out of this better than I thought. At dinner time, we played a little bit and I could already see that he was gaining some strength and feeling better. He had finally urinated which was a great sign since he was so dehydrated earlier and the kicker was that he did it in his litter box! Oh- did I mention that the vet estimated his age to be 3 weeks old and he weighed 12.5 ounces? Think about this, there's 12 ounces in a can of soda...

My momma found a heart on the back of my head! She says it's my way of proving how much I love her for rescuing me and giving me a home with lots of fun, a doting family and lots of love. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***Catster Honors:*** WINNER ~ 3rd Annual World's Coolest Dog and Cat Show: Costumes & Shades Category & Best in Show!!! **THANK YOU** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ Cat of the Week! 12/21/06 FEATURED Diary pick! 10/8/06 Diary of the Day pick! 12/10/06, 2/27/07, 3/27/07 (my daddy's birthday!), 5/5/07 (SIMBA'S Birthday!) & 1/29/08 Navin's Bud of the Day 4/11/07 Navin's Bud of the Week 4/18/07

Aw Cheese...

You guys are awesome!
I want to than all of you for the birthday wishes and rosettes you have sent to me.
I know I don't play here anymore, but I think of you guys a lot and I miss you all.
It's been lonely without you guys I must admit. And, I don't really have the fun with Dutchess that I had with all of you, but know that we are well and I still beat her up because she deserves it.

Again, thank you for thinking of me on MY day. (Just because it's Dutchesses birthday too doesn't mean she should get any attention).
