I have been having problems going to the bathroom since before Christmas. I was on Clavamox drops for a week and that didn't work. Then I was on Metacam drops for another week and that didn't work. Then mom thought that maybe a week wasn't long enough, so she started on the Metacam again but kept me on it for 2 weeks. Each time, I'd do good for a few days after the meds kicked in and then I'd have the problems again. So I was put on Clavamox pills for 3 weeks. Again, I'd do good for a few days and then would have problems, do good for a few days and then would have problems again.
So mom had to wait a week after the last Clavamox pill before I could go back to the vet. We had my appt for this last Saturday. It was decided that I'd stay there the weekend so that they could collect a urine sample and test it out.
Well, they gave me some sub-q fluids yesterday. Well, then they had an emergency c-section that had to be done on an English Bulldog. So, I had to hold it and hold it. Mom finally showed up and I was so uncomfortable because they took the litterbox out of my cage. But, I was a good girl and held it.
Finally the vet tech told mom to get me out of the cage and bring me to the table. Then the vet tech started squishing me to see if she could feel my bladder. That was a mistake! I peed all over the place and of course she didn't have anything to catch it. So guess what? I had to stay overnight again.
So today I had to go thru the torture again of the sub-q fluids and no litterbox. Mission accomplished this time. Mom came to get me after work and she was told that my white blood cell count was off the charts. So, they're sending a sample off to the lab. It'll be about a week for the results to come in.
In the meantime, I'm home. Mom has to shove an Orbax pill down my throat every day for a week. By then we should have the test results back and we'll go from there. So, keep your paws crossed that it's just an infection. If not, they'll do an ultrasound on me and check for stones or masses. Mom really doesn't like that second possibility. So, please keep your paws crossed for me. We'd really appreciate it!!!
