Heaven?

I must be in heaven. I thought I lived in Heaven on earth. I had a huge yard with lots of trees to climb, a kitty brother and a couple of dogs to harass. Life was good. I had a mom and dad who loved me and took real good care of me since they got me out of kitty jail (the shelter) when I was just a tiny boy. But we live in central Texas, and it's been a horrible drought this past year. It's extremely dry where I used to live, no water in ponds, just dry brown grass and trees. My beautiful brother Geezer was caught by the coyotes back in October, and I knew it, so I was trying to be careful. Mom and dad tried their best to keep me in, especially at night, but I was fast, and I went out late on Valentine's night. Dad said don't worry, he'd get me back in before he went to bed, but he called and I didn't come. Next morning, mom saw it, a long thin trail of white fluff against the brown of the pasture. She knew it was me. She put on her housecoat and walked the 100 yards or so into the pasture and looked down. It was me :-( (or what was left of me....) I had been out for a stroll before breakfast, you see. That was MY pasture where I always hunted with Geezer. But the moon wasn't full and we had a cool front, so I didn't smell them until it was too late. I don't remember much. I just remember seeing my brother in the light telling me to come and play with him. He said I'd be OK and that we could hunt all we want to in Heaven, and I'd never be sick or hurt again. We even found my sister Millie. She went before both of us, and our old brother Herman is here too! So this is where I'll be waiting for Mom and Dad some day. Oh that will be so great! I sure hope they get a bigger bed, though, because we ALL liked to sleep on it! I hear anything's possible here, so I'm sure it will be OK. Well, we're off to go hunting. I sure miss my human family, but I'm glad to be with all my brothers. I even found Gizmo, my dog who came up last year. He can hear! Heaven really is HEAVEN :-)
