indoors Arrival Story: I came to live with my family at just 5 weeks young. Too young to be away from my real mum and this was my second home! My daddy got me as a surprise for my mum but I was so tiny that mum didn't notice me and she almost sat on me! I was so little with a head bigger than my body! I was just a wee guy but I had a huge attitude- which was the reason why I came to my family in the first place as the lad who gave me away owns pets just to impress girls, and when they turn out to be a bother he gives them up. He did not like me because I gave him grief! I wish my brother and sister could have come with me too, because we found out they later ended up in the shelter. (hisssss!)
I grew up to be a charming, wonderful, and handsome young cat. I dwell safetly indoors but I loves to go on strolling adventures along the lake shore and around the neighborhood. My nickname is Tobey Hawk because I am so extreme on my wheels.
I love people as they usually make a fuss of me and my best friend is my brother, Afro Ken, who loves to play and dance with me. Bio: I was Cat of the Day July 5th, 2008! Lives Remaining: 9 of 9 Forums Motto: Tobey Hawk, Xtreme Stroller
Happy Birthday to my pals Zack and Zoey!!! It's pawsome watching those little guys grow up and now they are 2! Hope you have a great day little dudes! I love that Zack and Zoey have also got involved with clicker training and are having a blast with it! Hey Catsters, learning how to do tricks is a great way to bond with your people and an excellent way to get lots of treats, so I hope more cats get involved and learn to do tricks too. Then we can show all them smug dogs just how clever we really are!
This week I am learning how to stay, and the spin in a circle trick.
I have also started to ring the bell that the dogs ring when they want to go outside. This is a trick I taught myself because I am just clever like that. It's a really cool trick too because each time I have rang the bell, I got to go outside in my enclosure- but I was only allowed out for a short time because it is too chilly to stay out for long. I am well on my way to being an eXtreme trick cat!
Such fun! Meeoow!
Learning tricks is a piece of cake, y'all! Don't hate because I am doing like what the dogs do. It's way worth it because the pay is excellent. Every time I do the trick correctly, I hear a click and then I get a treat. Simples, innit. This week I have been learning how to "Stay" and the jumping through the hoop trick. I still walk through the hoop at my own cat pace, but I do it every time that I am asked. I've worked hard this week at learning tricks so I shall enjoy my weekend curled up with a Ziploc baggie full of my homegrown catnip. Yeeaahh.
So riddle me this:
Q: What’s black and white and blue all over?
A: A sad Tobey.
I’m sad because Afro Ken and Chloe are getting their Trick Dog Titles. It’s not easy being in a house with two clever dogs so I thought, “If you can’t beat them, join them.” So I have started to do clicker training to learn a bunch of dog tricks too. The clicker training is going really well but I still have some more tricks to learn before I can qualify for my trick dog title. I really wish I was getting my certification too. :-(
The good news is I am a fast learner and have already mastered a bunch of dog tricks in such a short amount of time. So I hope it won’t be long before I can have a qualification too. I am working with a copy of Kyra Sundance’s 101 Dog Tricks book and learning the tricks for the NTD (Novice Trick Dog) certification. I need to learn 15 tricks.
This is what I know so far:
Come
Sit
Shake a paw
The muffin tin game (my fave game!)
Chase a lunge whip, laser light, soap bubble, RC car (easy 'trick' for a cat to do)
Which hand holds the treat
Hoop jump (well, I sort of step through the hoop niiice and sloooowly)
Jump over a bar
Not bad, eh? Listing all the tricks I know has made me feel so much better! I will be a certified trick cat in no time at this rate! I will definitely have to put together a video of my tricks to show those dogs how clever I am! Meeeooow!
