Arrival Story: My friend Linda asked if I had seen the cats for adoption at Petsmart and I told her I don't look at them. She said she saw a pretty red and white kitty there and was considering adopting her. A few days later I stopped while at Petsmart to look at her and saw this pitiful scraggly black cat who reminded me of my little Junior. Upon closer inspection I saw he looked pretty old and not very healthy. He seemed weak in his hind end and although his paperwork said he was 8 he looked older. I was leaving to go out of town to a dog show the 21 and 22 0f Jan. of this year and leaving my husband to care for the cats so I knew adopting him at that moment was not an option. I felt so bad for him driving away I was in tears. Later that evening I had to go over to Linda's house. We were sitting outside having a glass of wine and she told me she was going in the morning to adopt the other kitty so I told her about the black guy. She asked if I wanted her to adopt him for me and I said sure, what the heck (I think it was the wine talking). The next day while at the dog show she called me to tell me she did it and she said he was drinking huge amounts of water so he was probably in kidney failure or diabetic, it was like OH GREAT! I got back from the dog show, snuck him in the bedroom and when my husband came in he just looked at him and said "who is that". I told him and agreed he looked like a large Junior but after his first trip to the litterbox when he made a bowel movement and ran away without covering it he dubbed him Stanky! He spent the first several days at the vets where he was found to be diabetic and they had to figure out his insulin dosage. He now gets injections twice a day and is on a low carb diet and doing really well.
Bio: As to how Leroy got the rest of his name ......I was having a tough time naming him and Stanky seemed sort of mean to me. Sunday a group of my friends were over for Superbowl and my friend Deb was telling a story about looking at trucks at the car dealership. The salesmans name was Napoleon Brown but at some point for some reason she forgot and started calling him Leroy. She didn't realize her mistake until they were leaving and "Leroy" gave her his buisness card, Oops, needless to say they did not buy thier truck there. We all agreed upon naming the kitty this since he hung out with us during the entire game going from lap to lap!
